Same view. Different days.
One draped in brooding cloud, the next aglow with sunset fire.
This place never repeats itself — even when you stand in the exact same spot.

Nature has a way of painting familiar scenes in entirely new moods. You just have to keep looking.

🌕 Strawberry Moon — not named for its colour, but for the strawberry harvest in the Northern Hemisphere, where this full moon marks early summer.
Here at Pezula, it rose soft and golden over winter seas. A moment of quiet beauty.

The Cove Hiking Trail – My Favourite Escape 🌊

The Cove Hiking Trail at Pezula Private Estate is my absolute favourite, offering one of the most breathtaking views of The Cove. The trail winds through indigenous Keurboom trees and along a gentle stream, transitions into pristine fynbos, and descends through an enchanting forest to the secluded Cove beach. Once there, you can choose to take a refreshing swim or explore rock pools teeming with sea life. If swimming isn’t your thing, a leisurely walk amid the rugged, orange lichen rock formations will leave you in awe—creating a truly otherworldly experience. 🌊✨

Every time I walk this trail, I’m reminded of how special this place is. Nothing comes close.

🌸 Golden Treasure of the Fynbos: Disa cornuta 🌸

Amidst the rich tapestry of the Cape Floral Kingdom, one bloom stands out with its subtle elegance — the Disa cornuta, often referred to as the golden orchid. Known for its soft golden hues and intricate structure, this terrestrial orchid is a rare gem that graces the Western Cape’s diverse landscapes.

Appearing sporadically in the fynbos, the Disa cornuta has also been spotted right here on Pezula Private Estate, adding to the natural splendor of our surroundings. A true golden treasure, it’s a symbol of the extraordinary biodiversity we’re so proud to call home.

Have you ever come across this beauty while exploring Pezula?

Up Close with Southern Right Whales: A Bucket List Moment

If you’ve ever dreamed of experiencing the power and grace of one of the ocean’s most majestic creatures, seeing a southern right whale up close is a must.

At Pezula Private Estate, we’re lucky to spot southern right whales from the shore, often recognising them by their signature V-shaped blow or, if we’re really fortunate, a breathtaking breach.

However, seeing them right alongside the boat is a sight that words can barely capture. I recently had the privilege of experiencing them up close and was blown away by the sheer size and gentle nature of these giants. The highlight was when a mother and her calf glided right beside the boat. Watching them move so comfortably, even swimming beneath the boat, was nothing short of awe-inspiring.

From afar, that V-shaped blow is a thrilling sight, but being close enough to witness their sheer size and feel their presence in the water is on a whole new level. Truly, Nothing Comes Close to the magic of experiencing these majestic creatures up close.

The southern right whale’s journey brings them close to our shores each year, creating a rare chance to see these gentle giants. It’s an experience that lingers long after the waves have calmed. For anyone who hasn’t yet, put this at the top of your list.

Bontebok Calves Update: Growing Up Fast on Pezula Private Estate!

Our two newest residents on the Field of Dreams are doing wonderfully! The two bontebok calves are full of life and energy, sticking close to their protective mothers, who are making sure they get all the nourishment they need. Right now, they’re completely dependent on their mothers’ milk, but it won’t be long before we see them start to nibble on the grass, following in the herd’s footsteps.

Watching them find their legs and explore the world around them has been a real joy. Their soft tan coats help them blend perfectly into the landscape, but if you’re lucky, you might just catch a glimpse of these curious little ones as they playfully discover their surroundings.

Each day brings new progress, and we can’t wait to see how they grow. If you’re visiting Pezula, make sure to stop by the Field of Dreams to witness nature at its finest – it’s an experience you won’t want to miss! 🌿🦌💚
