[Just In] Traffic is flowing again along sections of the N2 in the Eastern Cape following a series of protests that brought traffic to a standstill, affecting EmaXesibeni, KwaBhaca and Qumbu. The R61 in Port St Johns was also affected.

The protests reportedly stem from demands by mini-truck owners to be allowed to mine sand in their respective areas without restrictions or permits. The matter is receiving attention from the relevant environmental authorities, while law enforcement officials continue to monitor the situation and work to prevent further unrest and road closures.

Although traffic has resumed, Unathi Binqose, Eastern Cape Department of Transport spokesperson, has urged motorists to exercise caution as tensions remain high in some areas.

⚠️ TRAFFIC ALERT: PROTEST ACTIONS AFFECTING MAJOR ROADS

The Eastern Cape Department of Transport urges motorists to exercise caution and patience as protest actions disrupt traffic on several major routes, particularly in the eastern parts of the province.

Affected areas include sections of the N2 in eMaxesibeni, KwaBhaca and Qumbu, as well as Port St Johns.
The situation remains volatile. Traffic law enforcement officers are on the scene managing traffic, while police are working to disperse protesters.
Motorists are urged to remain vigilant, follow instructions from law enforcement officers and avoid affected areas where possible.

Post News / Umzimkhulu Regional Court has recently sentenced convicted serial ra**st Tenes Hassan (33) to six life imprisonment terms after he was found guilty of ra**ng six women between January and December 2022 in Umzimkhulu.

In all six r**e cases, Hassan broke into the houses where women were staying by themselves or with their children, and demanded cellphones and money before ra**ng them. The man attacked the victims mostly between 2am and 3am in the morning.

Gwala’s details appear on IEC candidate list as a Ward 6 councillor candidate under the Afrika Mayibuye Movement.

But he told the Post that he never submitted his personal details to the party to stand as a ward councillor candidate.

Post News / Slain police constable Ntlahle Tyali was laid to rest at a sombre funeral service at St Augustine in Tsolo last weekend.

Constable Tyali tragically died in the line of duty while attending the scene of an attempted robbery on September 18 in Sikhobeni in Libode.

Tyali was with his colleague, Warrant Officer Magoxo, of the Mthatha National Intervention Unit.
