πππππ πππππππ ππππππππ (ππππ):
Municipalities in the Western Cape received a Level 4 warning for very cold and wet weather expected to occur from Thursday, 3 until Sunday, 6 July 2025.
According to SAWS, localised flooding and drenching rains can be expected. A series of cold fronts are expected to bring scattered to widespread showers and rain over the western parts of the Western Cape from late Wednesday evening into Sunday. The most significant cold front will reach the south-western Cape by Friday afternoon, when quick and heavy downpours are possible. 24-hour rainfall accumulations of 20-35 mm are likely over the south-western parts, reaching 50 mm over the mountainous region. Even though only 5-10 mm are possible on Saturday, another cold front making landfall early Sunday will mostly likely bring even more rain. BVM will continue to issue weather advisories and warnings upon receipt, however, the public should brace for cold and wet weather. In addition, please take note of- and consider these warnings as serious.

Flooding of roads, formal and informal settlements which may lead to damage to property/ infrastructure.
Danger to life due to fast flowing streams over low-lying bridges.
Major disruption of traffic flow due to major roads being flooded and damaged could lead to increased travel time.
Delays within basic service delivery.
ππ€π¬ π©π€ π£ππ«ππππ©π π©πππ¨ π¬πππ©πππ§:
Be cautious on the roads and avoid crossing rivers and swollen streams where water is above your ankles. If trapped in a vehicle during a flood, abandon it and climb to higher ground. In buildings, move valuables to a safe place above the expected flood level. Switch off electricity at the supply point to the building. Be especially cautious at night when it's harder to recognise flood dangers. Listen to the radio or TV for warnings.
Municipal teams remain on high alert during these conditions and will prioritise the swift repair of all service interruptions emanating from the adverse weather incidents. Working conditions coupled with increased pressure on our resource availability, during such incidents, may result in service delays. Therefore, we implore the publicβs patience whilst our teams respond to service complaints under these circumstances.
BVM is closely monitoring the impact of the adverse weather and flooding in all areas.
BVM would like to assure our residents that our teams remain committed to manage situations like these and keep our people safe. Please continue to exercise extreme precaution during adverse weather conditions to minimise and avoid damage to infrastructure and loss of life.
BVM also urges the public to NOT create, forward, entertain, or heed false news regarding the floods. Doing so, can seriously hamper the effectiveness of our rescue services.
To remain updated on this matter, please visit/follow the BVM page and/or BVMβs Collab Citizen App ( https://bvm.gov.za/bvm-citizen-app/ )
Residents are also advised to NOT contact their local councillor or individual officials, but rather to share all emergency details to the call centre where the centralised service will log and dispatch all calls. Please be reminded of the following important emergency contact details:
