POLICE LAUNCH MANHUNT AFTER ALLEGED MOB JUSTICE MURDER IN SESHEGO

POLOKWANE, LIMPOPO – 06 October 2025

Police in Seshego, under the Capricorn District, have launched a manhunt following the gruesome discovery of a man’s partially burned body near a high school in Extension 75B on Monday morning.

According to the South African Police Service, officers responded to a murder scene at around 08:00, where they found the body of an unknown African male lying on his back next to the road. The victim had visible injuries to the face, and parts of his body appeared to have been set alight. He was wearing a blue T-shirt with the word “Jou” printed on the chest.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the deceased may have been assaulted and burned by community members in what appears to be an alleged mob justice incident. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and the victim’s identity has not yet been confirmed.

The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, strongly condemned the act, warning residents against taking the law into their own hands.

“We urge community members to refrain from acts of vigilantism and to allow the justice system to take its course. Mob justice is a serious crime and will not be tolerated,” said Lieutenant General Hadebe.

Police have appealed to anyone with information that could help identify the deceased or locate the suspects to contact Detective Warrant Officer Calvin Magoro at 079 780 3790, the Crime Stop number 08600 10111, or the nearest police station. Tip-offs can also be submitted anonymously via the MySAPS App.

The investigation continues.

Three Suspects Arrested for Polokwane Business Robberies

POLOKWANE – Police in Limpopo, working hand-in-hand with their Mpumalanga counterparts, have arrested three suspects believed to be behind a series of business robberies that rocked the Polokwane CBD over the past two months.

The suspects, aged between 39 and 42, were tracked down and arrested during an intelligence-driven operation in Kanyamazane Township, Mpumalanga, on Thursday, 02 October 2025.

Their arrests come after a spate of robberies that targeted well-known stores in Polokwane:
• Pep Store was robbed on 10 August 2025
• Studio 88 was hit on 16 August 2025
• The Groom Shop was robbed on 02 September 2025

In all three incidents, large quantities of clothing and cellphones were stolen.

During the operation, police successfully recovered stolen goods worth an estimated R150,000, including items directly linked to the Polokwane robberies.

The suspects are set to first appear in the Kanyamazane Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 03 October 2025, facing charges of possession of suspected stolen property. They will later be transported to Limpopo and are expected to appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 06 October 2025, to face three counts of business robbery.

Limpopo Provincial Commissioner of Police, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, applauded the successful operation, highlighting the importance of collaboration between provinces.

“These arrests demonstrate the effectiveness of joint policing operations across provinces and reinforce our commitment to dealing decisively with organised criminal groups,” said Lieutenant General Hadebe.

Police investigations are continuing, and further arrests have not been ruled out
