As South Africa observes the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children, we are reminded that the fight against gender-based violence is not only a social struggle, it is deeply political.

Today, Ntsako Yoliswa Mhlanga is speaking to a woman whose story exposes the uncomfortable truth about what happens when the very democracy meant to protect women instead becomes a weapon against them.
