| YOUNG ASPIRING FILM MAKER BRINGS RURAL STORIES TO LIFE USING CELLPHONE AT BOKGAGA, GA-MAAKE

BOKGAGA-GA-MAAKE – At just 18 years old, Emmanuel Malatji from Bokgaga, Ga-Maake in the Greater Tzaneen area is making waves as a self-taught filmmaker—armed with nothing but a cellphone and a powerful vision.

In 2023, while still in Grade 11, Malatji founded his own production company, TLC Pictures, and began filming his debut web series titled "Umlilo: The Fire." The series stars Isaac Leseilane as Revolver, a central character in a gripping story set in the heart of Bokgaga village.

"Umlilo: The Fire" dives into powerful themes of power, revenge, friendship, and betrayal, told through the experiences of young boys navigating a world where spiritual battles are as real as the physical ones.

The series features local talent—young, aspiring actors from the community—many of whom are taking their first steps toward realizing their dreams on screen.

“What makes this special is that we’re telling stories that come from us, for us,” said Malatji. “I work with talented young people who just need the right direction and exposure.”

Not slowing down, the ambitious filmmaker is currently working on his second project, "Kasi to Gazi (K2G)", promising more stories, more action, and raw storytelling straight from the dusty roads to the screen.

Malatji is calling on the public for support.

“I’m hoping for every kind of support—even financially—but mostly, we need viewers and subscribers,” he said.
