The Marine Surf Ski Series Race 6 took place under challenging conditions at Addington Beach. With lightning flashing, rain pouring, and a strong south-westerly wind creating rough seas, paddlers faced a tough battle against the elements. Each stroke required determined effort as they worked to maintain their balance and stay afloat in the stormy waters.

Most people don’t even know that a place like Dogtown Durban ever existed. So before this piece of history disappears for good, here’s how I remember it—growing up right in the middle of a scene full of characters and legends I’ll never forget.

In a way, it mirrored the Dogtown spirit from Santa Monica and Venice Beach in California—same kind of grit, same kind of edge—just with a Durban accent.
