14 South Africans held in Zimbabwean jails
The Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission says these people should be deported and not held.

During a visit to the Harare Remand and Chikurubi Maximum Security prisons recently, the commission exposed inhumane conditions.

It's calling for an urgent intervention.

The commission inspected the Harare Remand and Chikurubi Maximum Security prisons.

It found inhumane conditions, lack of access to education, healthcare and delays in legal proceedings.

But, the commission also found dozens of undocumented migrants.

Some have been jailed for criminal offences but the majority are there for violating immigration laws.

The ZHRC says these people should be deported and not held in these jails.

Human rights lawyers are calling for the swift implementation of all the commission's findings.

Zimbabwean prisons can hold 17,000 prisoners but the population often exceeds this capacity.

Violence against illegal miners in South Africa spread Friday despite calls for restraint from the country's president, following the arrests of more than 80 men, some thought to be miners, over the gang rapes of eight women last week.

Miners' camps were torched and roads around the townships of Munsieville and Bekkersdal outside the town of Krugersdorp, west of Johannesburg, were barricaded with rocks and burning tires as residents protested against the presence of illegal miners. Many of the miners are migrants from other African countries, and the violence has raised concerns over xenophobia.

A court sets aside the South African president's recognition of the Zulu king

A South African court has overturned President Cyril Ramaphosa’s decision to recognize Misuzulu kaZwelithini as the king of the country’s 15 million-strong Zulu nation in what may spark a lengthy battle for the throne

A South African court has overturned President Cyril Ramaphosa's decision to recognize Misuzulu kaZwelithini as the king of the country's 15 million-strong Zulu nation in what may spark a lengthy battle for the throne.

Ramaphosa has now been ordered to launch an investigation into objections by some members of the Zulu royal house that the correct processes were not followed in selecting kaZwelithini as the rightful heir to the throne.

KaZwelithini was chosen as the new king last year after the death of his father, King Goodwill Zwelithini.

He was recognized by Ramaphosa as the new king and handed a recognition certificate, but some of his siblings have challenged the process and insisted that he is not the rightful heir to the throne and that due processes were not followed in choosing him.

Portugal picked up their second Nations League title after beating holders Spain 5-3 in a penalty shootout following a 2-2 draw in the final at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany.

Portugal goalkeeper Diogo Costa saved Alvaro Morata’s fourth penalty for Spain, then Ruben Neves converted his team’s fifth to seal the win.

Cristiano Ronaldo had kept Portugal in the game when he equalised in the 61st minute of regular time with his record-extending 138th goal after Mikel Oyarzabal had given Spain a halftime lead. Oyarzabal squeezed the ball past Portugal goalkeeper Costa in the 45th minute after Pedri played him in.

Martin Zubimendi had broken the deadlock in the 21st minute with a tap-in when Portugal’s defence failed to deal with Lamine Yamal’s cross, then Nuno Mendes levelled five minutes later when he drilled a low shot inside the far post.

Earlier, Kylian Mbappe led France to third place with a 2-0 win over host nation Germany in Stuttgart.

Unpaid Overtime Sparks Standoff: KZN Teachers Refuse Extra Classes as Department Declared ‘Collapsed’

SADTU has accused the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education of failing to pay basic financial allocations for overtime, leaving schools struggling to cover operational costs. The union has also highlighted several other grievances, including:

Unpaid acting allowances

Non-compliance with collective agreements

Delayed school funding allocations

Unilateral changes in payment structures

In response, SADTU has initiated a “work-to-rule” protest, where teachers only perform their contracted duties—refusing to conduct extra classes or administrative tasks beyond school hours.

Rulani Addresses Links With 'Big Club'

The 38-year-old has since been linked with Zamalek along with former Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly tactician Pitso Mosimane.

However, Mokwena has revealed that he does not want to compete with his countryman for the same job out of respect for their relationship.

"I didn’t hear from them (Zamalek) after I had said I heard that coach Pitso was also in the running for this position," Mokwena said on SuperSport's Africa Soccer show.

"My relationship and my respect for him would not allow me to compete for the same coaching job with coach Pitso.

"It just wouldn’t sit well with me, so I pulled out. I said I would rather they give it to Pitso.
