We were honoured to have Dr. Denise Zambezi (PhD) as our main facilitator; she is an incredible human rights activist, legal scholar and researcher.

During the retreat, we were equipped with practical tools that nurture wellbeing, self care, trauma, healing, and justice. We learned about deepening compassion for ourselves and others within the different communities we serve.

ROOTS OF RESILIENCE: Flourish Retreat

The retreat was aimed at understanding the emotional, psychological, and physical toll of activism and community service. The collaboration between feminist groups: Hedone, The Lotus Identity, MOSAIC, and R**e Crisis Cape Town demonstrated commitment to achieving a feminist trauma-informed and healing justice approach in address this overwhelming problem.

The practical curriculum is designed for activists, youth leaders, community workers, care-givers, and social change agents who often experience burnout and compassion fatigue - due to the demanding nature of their work.

Honoured to be immersed in the daily lived reality of these remarkable communities.
