Eric "Tower" Mathoho

Born : 1 May 1990
Place :Thohoyandou
Position : Defender

Is a South African football central defender. He played for Kaizer Chiefs and South Africa.

Mathoho was born in Tshiombo near Thohoyandou. He played soccer from a young age. He made balls out of onion bags and he played games in maize fields during harvest time and would tear off his toe nails when he kicked the ground and bruise his feet.

Mathoho joined Bloemfontein Celtic from Limpopo-based Dolphins FC after going for trials with two other players in July 2009 under Owen da Gama. Mathoho made his debut on 3 February 2010 in a 0–0 draw against Mamelodi Sundowns under Clinton Larsen and was named Man of the Match. He scored his first goal on 27 February 2011 in a 5–0 win over Supersport United. He put on great performances in his first six months as a professional and was linked to Maccabi Haifa and went for trials at FC Twente but the €1 million deal never materialised. The deal collapsed because of financial laws in the Netherlands which insisted foreign players must get paid a significant amount – a law designed to control the quality of players brought into the country. Mathoho was set to be a replacement for Douglas who was leaving having been linked with Juventus and Bayern Munich but the deal collapsed.

Mathoho joined Chiefs only in June 2012 after being linked with them since January and also Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns and was unveiled on 1 July 2012. Mathoho made his debut on 5 August 2012 in a 4–1 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns where Chiefs were 4–0 down by the 36th minute. On 13 September 2012, Mathoho suffered a shoulder dislocation against Maritzburg United. On 3 April 2013, he scored his first goal in Chiefs colours against Maritzburg United in a 1–1 draw. He won the 2012/13 league title and the Nedbank Cup in his first season. Mathoho made his CAF Champions League debut on 1 March 2014 and scored against Liga Muculmana in a 4–0 win at Moses Mabhida Stadium on what was his 24th birthday. At the beginning of the 2014–15 season, Mathoho was part of a team that went 19 games without losing in the process, winning the MTN8 without conceding a goal and later won the league.

He made his debut for South Africa on 14 May 2011 versus Tanzania in an international friendly. Mathoho played every minute of South Africa's successful AFCON qualifying campaign in 2014 under Ephraim Mashaba to help them qualify for the first time since 2008.

Mathoho is a defender that also has the ability to launch attacks and go forward to add numbers and he is a threat in the air and at set-pieces.

Confirmed reports have it that he failed to impress when he had the opportunity to train with SuperSport United. Rumour mill has it that the star’s type of play differed from the club’s philosophy.

However, despite his failed move to SuperSport United, he was once reported training with PSL returnees Polokwane City, but nothing materialised.

🇧🇷Ronaldinho: “My advice to Lamine Yamal, the number 10 is not carried by words, but by magical touches and the morals of a champion.

You have the talent that the stadiums dream of, so don't let words steal the brilliance of your feet , I saw greats like Messi and Iniesta who made history with the silence of heroes.

El Clásico is won by the brilliance of the feet, not by the scream of the tongue, Learn from this lesson, make your next response an artistic salute.

a free kick that touches the corner, a dribble that leaves defenders in the shadows! The future is at your feet, so don't waste it in your words! Because talent is responsibility.”. Say the former Barca Legendary player

Manuel Neuer 🗣️ “When we were down to 10-men, it wasn't easy of course. But with Kompany we train a lot for situations like these, where we play with numerical superiority or inferiority, 10 vs. 8, for example. And we focus on solid defending, and today we proved that we're capable of it."

Since the end of apartheid, South Africa have appeared in the FIFA World Cup on three occasions in 1998, 2002, and as hosts in 2010. They are due to appear in the World Cup in 2026

Although South Africa has made three appearances in the World Cup, they have not made it past the first round. The team's first attempt to qualify was for the 1994 FIFA World Cup. The team finished second in their group, behind Nigeria, who went on to play at the World Cup. Their first appearance was in France 1998, six years after they had been readmitted to the global football family. Despite a 3–0 drubbing to France in their opening game, they went on to draw against Denmark and Saudi Arabia, the team finished third and thus exited the tournament. Korea/Japan 2002 was expected to be an opportunity for Bafana Bafana to step up to the next level but they were eliminated at the group stage despite drawing to Paraguay and beating Slovenia 1–0 for their first-ever World Cup win. The team finished third in their group, losing out to Paraguay on goals scored. The team failed to qualify for the 2006 FIFA World Cup after finishing third in their qualifying group. Ghana won the group and progressed to the tournament, while Congo DR finished ahead of South Africa on head-to-head results. During the 2010 World Cup on their home soil, they beat France 2–1 and drew 1–1 to Mexico, but lost 0–3 to Uruguay. They lost out on progression to the round of 16, on goal difference, becoming the first World Cup host nation to fail to advance past the group stage.

Do you think Bafana will make it past the first round this time?

Bernard Parker

Position : Attacking Midfielder, Forward
Born : 16 March 1986
Place : Boksburg, SA

Is a South African soccer manager and former player who manages the TS Galaxy reserves. He played as a midfielder or forward. Between 2007 and 2015 he made 73 appearances for the South Africa national team scoring 23 goals.

Parker was born and grew up in Reiger Park, a township next to Boksburg, Gauteng. He was quite good in a variety of sports and excelled in short and long-distance running as well as achieving Eastern Gauteng colours in swimming.

Parker started his professional football career playing for Thanda Royal Zulu in the Premier Soccer League, where he made 70 appearances before a one-year loan to Serbian side Red Star Belgrade. He joined Eredivisie side FC Twente in 2009, where he spent a season and a half before being loaned out to Panserraikos in the Greek Super League. During his time in the Eredivisie, Parker won the 2009-10 Eredivisie and the 2010 Johan Cruyff Shield.

He moved to Kaizer Chiefs in 2011. He was awarded the 2013–14 Lesley Manyathela Golden Boot and won two league titles, the Nedbank Cup and the MTN 8 with the South African club. Parker was released by Kaizer Chiefs in June 2022 after spending over a decade at the club, making over 350 appearances and scoring over 60 goals. He is currently the coach of TS Galaxy B

A product of the School of Excellence, Parker made his debut in the professional ranks for Cape Town's Hellenic FC, later bought and renamed Benoni Premier United. After the club was once again renamed and moved to Durban he remained with Thanda Royal Zulu F.C. until early 2009 when he obtained a transfer to European Cup Winners Red Star in Serbia. His stay in Belgrade was cut short after reports that the club had cash flow problems and owed its players' salaries.

Parker signed with FC Twente in July 2009 and was a member of the team that won the Dutch 2009–10 Eredivisie. After Twente manager Steve McClaren's move to Bundesliga, Parker failed to convince new coach Michel Preud'homme of his qualities and thus spent the first half of the 2010–11 Dutch season mostly on the bench. He joined Leicester City on trial in December 2010 with a view to a permanent move away from the Dutch club. On 18 January 2011, he moved to Panserraikos F.C. on loan, to secure extra game time and returned to FC Twente after the end of the 2010–11 season.

After Parker spent over a decade at Kaizer Chiefs, the club decided not to renew his contract that was to expire on 30 June 2022. He scored over 60 goals in 350 appearances there.

In August 2022 Parker joined TS Galaxy on a two-year contract.

On 18 October 2023, Parker suffered a broken leg from a "nightmare challenge" by Mamelodi Sundowns player Bongani Zungu during a Round Of 16 match in the 2023 Carling Knockout Cup between TS Galaxy and Mamelodi Sundowns at Mbombela Stadium.

In July 2024 Parker announced his retirement from playing.
