Get ready for the 2nd LOWVELD MOTORCYCLE SPRING ECONOMY FUN RUN, taking place on 14 September 2025. Following on the success of last year's inaugural event, 2 WHEELS ONLY brings you the 2025 event complete with NEW VENUE and NEW ROUTE.

The NEW VENUE for the 2025 event is Laguna Pub & Grub and Astron Energy Whiteriver, perfectly situated and completely biker friendly. Plenty to eat and drink available throughout the day, as well as live entertainment (music).

EVENT FORMAT:
The aim is to use the least fuel over a route of 120km which needs to be completed in a set time. Various classes according to engine size as well as a pillion class.

PROGRAM
8 am till 10 am - Registration, fuel fill up and tanks sealed.
10 am - Briefing 🎤🎤
10:30 am till 12 - Competitors set off on the route 🏍🏍
2:30/3 pm - Prizegiving 🏆🏆

All bikes and all bikers are welcome to enter this exciting event. Last year a lady rider - Ciska Vermeulen on her BMW GS650 showed everyone how it's done by taking overall honours, so the target is on her back this year.

2 Wheels Only attended the Mad Dogs Day Jol held on 2 August 2025 at Hazyview Park Lodge, Mpumalanga, and we came away suitably impressed. The crowd was entertained the whole day with many games for the guys and ladies, and the evergreen rocking sounds of Burglar's Dog who traveled all the way from Joburg to entertain us.

Starting at BMW Motorrad Mbombela at 8 am, come and enjoy a beverage and snack, before setting off around 9 am on a beautiful scenic ride of approximately 170km, ending up at GumTreez Pub & Grill in Casterbridge for a sumptuous lunch.

NEW (2025/6) BMW R1300R ROADSTER

Finally, a 1300GS built for tar roads only!

It is with great anticipation that us here at 2 Wheels Only saw the (online) unveiling of the new BMW R1300R yesterday (10 April 2025 @ 5PM). Imagine our surprise when we saw the pics (displayed here on this post courtesy of BMW Motorrad Press) and read up on the specs.

This model oozes 'naked streetfighter' vibes with a modern edgy design which we like a lot. Powered by the 1300 motor which does duty in the GS range, 2-cylinder boxer engine boasts a power output of 107 kW (145 hp) at 7,750 rpm and torque of 149 Nm at 6,500 pm.

There are a number of 'firsts' on this model like the choice of a black exhaust system, including the headers and silencer. Also, as far as suspension goes, the BMW R1300R features new electronic Dynamic Suspension Adjustment (DSA), with dynamic adjustment of the damping, spring rate and load compensation as optional equipment. This makes it the world’s first series production motorcycle telescopic fork with an adjustable spring rate. The ASA (automatic shift-assist) version (basically an automatic gearbox - no clutch lever) is also available using the same system as is currently available on the 1300GS range.

As far as colours go, we really like the black one, but there are 4 different colours to choose from, see the pics for details.

The base price is a mere R222k, and we spent last night 'building' our own one adding and substituting various bits and pieces (colours, trim, performance bits, etc) and ended up at around R320k.
