Mark's Prime Cuts is a compilation series with a simple job: six artists, one record, hand-selected and sequenced to move. This is volume seven, and it climbs from the deep end straight up to the peak. We start patient. Desert Gomes opens with "Mind the Step," close to nine minutes of deep house that gives the room somewhere to settle before things get moving. FEED (IT) lifts the tempo on "I Can't Stop," and the record climbs from there. Joadja's "Sax Playa" brings the sax and the swing, a Latin tech house cut with real personality. Saymon Gomez turns it melodic on "La Musica Habla," then Risive's "Slopes" and Dave Richards' closing "Open Your Mind" push the whole thing over into techno. Run it front to back and it plays like a set. Pull tracks out and each one stands on its own. Mark hand-selected every cut, and he's never once compromised on quality. Unique house and techno for your soul.

I bet you thought I forgot about the Guest List this month. NOPE! I actually had three artists send in mixes, but time just got away on my end between day job and family needs. We’re gonna get it straight now though.

This month’s Guest List mix(link in comment box) is coming from another new artist to the label, Desert Gomes. He’s from South Africa and knows how to throw down some seriously deep afrohouse. His first release with us will be on the newly revived Mark’s Prime Cuts series. In fact, he’s the opening act on it. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
