SGT MTSHWENI MURDER - 19 August 2025
Two suspects, Rodgers Silinda (27) and Tsepo Trevor Mashele (27), have been taken into custody in connection with Sgt Lawrence Dumisani Mtshweni’s murder. Silinda was arrested on 9 August and Mashele on 14 August. They appeared at Nkomazi Magistrate’s Court today for bail applications, but both abandoned their bail bids. The case was postponed to 2 October 2025 for further investigation.
Three other alleged suspects died last week in Eswatini two were fatally shot and a third reportedly shot himself. Investigation continues…

Tendai Ndoro, a celebrated soccer player from Bulawayo, was found dead today, three days after his passing. He faced several challenges in his later life. Ndoro’s demise occurred in South Africa. He struggled with diabetes, underwent surgery to remove a tumor under his arm, and divorced his ex-wife Thando Maseko in 2022 after a brief marriage. The divorce sparked online claims that he had lost his Johannesburg home, cars, and fortune as properties were registered in her name, leading to bankruptcy and return to Zimbabwe. However, Ndoro disputed these claims in November 2024, indicating it was an amicable split with mutual asset division. 'I didn’t lose anything, she didn’t take anything,' he said then.

The Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services have verified that no casualties occurred due to a fire involving three buses and one trailer in Jet Park, Boksburg yesterday. The DEMS reported that the fire was efficiently contained and extinguished by our fire crews, in conjunction with ACSA fire rescue, whose rescue team and water truck were present at the scene. Two additional buses successfully avoided the fire and were driven to a safer location. The cause of the fire remains unknown and is currently under investigation by fire safety officials.

A cash reward of R150 000 is being offered by the SAPS for information regarding Jabulani Thabang Moyo's whereabouts. The suspect is wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of two police detectives in Roodepoort on Friday, 08 August 2025. He is considered very dangerous, DO NOT approach him. The funeral of Sergeant Lawrence Dumisani Mtshweni is currently underway at the Schoemansdal Community Hall in Mpumalanga. Mr Jackie Macie, MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison, is in attendance. The leadership of the SAPS is represented by Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi, Ehlanzeni District Commissioner, Major General Dorah Xaba, and other senior officials. Community members are also present to pay their respects. This is a somber moment for the family, friends, and colleagues of Sergeant Mtshweni, who will be laid to rest later today following a tragic shooting incident that resulted in his death.

A tragic accident occurred on Thursday, 14 August 2025, on the R101 road between Mokopane and Mookgopong in Limpopo, resulting in nine fatalities. Two inmates hospitalized after the collision between a police vehicle and a truck succumbed to their injuries on Friday, 15 August 2025, increasing the death toll to nine, including one police officer and eight inmates. Injured inmates are still receiving medical treatment. Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, conveyed condolences to the bereaved families and wished the injured inmates a speedy recovery, reiterating the SAPS's commitment to a thorough investigation.

A joint operation involving the Royal Eswatini Police Service, the South African Police Service, and the Umbutfo Eswatini Defence Force resulted in the fatal shooting of two suspects connected to the murder of South African police officer Lawrence Dumisani Mtshweni in their hideout in Eswatini earlier today. The suspects were cornered in Nyakatfo, located in the Hhohho region. Authorities stated that a third suspect took his own life using a pistol before officers could apprehend him in the Mantashe area of the Shiselweni region. Sergeant Mtshweni was fatally shot while responding to a business robbery at U-Save Supermarket in Schoemansdal, Mpumalanga.
