TRUMP’S TARIFFS SHAKE THINGS UP!
Starting August, 🇿🇦 South Africa will face a 30% levy on exports heading to the US — and the fallout might hit kasi entrepreneurs, youth-owned businesses, and our fragile economy the hardest.

From fashion brands to agri-traders, digital freelancers to local manufacturers — this new trade tension could reshape SA’s path to global markets. 🌍

At the Africa Mini-Summit in Washington, only five smaller economies were invited — with SA & Nigeria left out 👀. Now, questions are swirling: Are we being sidelined? And can our government renegotiate better terms?

📊 In this breakdown, we unpack:
⚖️ What the new tariffs mean
🚧 How it affects your hustle
🧠 What SA can do next
📦 Why this matters for the youth economy

🚨 BREAKING | MCHUNU SAGA DEEPENS 🚨
Justice Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi says she is ready to face a Parliamentary inquiry into explosive allegations involving Police Minister Senzo Mchunu.

This follows a bombshell briefing by KZN Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, who claimed that a syndicate involving politicians and top cops is interfering with high-profile investigations — and named individuals allegedly close to the minister.

📍 Speaker of Parliament Thoko Didiza has ordered the Police and Justice Committees to meet jointly to investigate the matter.
📍 The DA plans to lay a criminal complaint against Mchunu at the Cape Town Police Station today.
📍 The Joint Standing Committee on Intelligence will also meet — but behind closed doors.

Kubayi said she welcomes the inquiry and will cooperate fully:

“We will avail ourselves to face scrutiny… we await guidance from the President.”

Is this the beginning of a political unraveling at the top of SAPS?

Top judge defends conduct!
Eastern Cape Judge President Selby Mbenenge says his relationship with a former secretary was “mutually flirtatious” — as the sexual harassment tribunal continues in Johannesburg.

Do you think cultural context justifies his defense?

Top Cops at War?
Explosive allegations. Political power plays. Drug cartel links?

KZN Police Commissioner Mkhwanazi has accused Police Minister Senzo Mchunu and Deputy National Commissioner Sibiya of being complicit in a criminal syndicate infiltrating the justice system 😳💥

Sibiya has hit back, calling it all baseless lies.
Mchunu? Silent… for now. But not for long.

Is this the beginning of a policing crisis — or a long-overdue reckoning?

South Africa continues to mourn the passing of David Mabuza, the country’s former Deputy President, who died yesterday at the age of 64.

Political parties and Members of Parliament have shared tributes, remembering Mabuza as non-partisan, selfless, and a man of quiet influence who played a pivotal role in shaping post-apartheid South Africa’s political journey.

Despite frequent disagreements, BOSA leader Mmusi Maimane acknowledged Mabuza’s “political acumen and influence.”
GOOD Party leader Patricia de Lille praised him as an exemplary chair of intergovernmental forums, noting his punctuality and clarity of purpose.

ActionSA’s Herman Mashaba described him as a “significant figure” whose contributions will leave a lasting mark on South Africa’s democracy.
And IFP leader Velenkosini Hlabisa called him a leader “both pragmatic and driven by purpose.”

While the cause of death has not been officially released, the tributes reflect a sense of cross-party respect for a leader known for working behind the scenes to stabilise governance in volatile times.

As the nation prepares for his memorial and final farewell, many are reflecting not only on his leadership — but also on his quiet style of politics in a time marked by loud and often divisive voices.
