Cover Design and the Blurb
A book cover should be smart, striking, and memorable. This is the very first thing a reader will notice, so colour choices, font style, and size all matter greatly.
The way you display the author’s name and title is not the same as writing the content itself. This is where creativity comes in; a well-designed cover must sell itself. While it isn’t wrong to use an internet template, it’s important to apply originality and ensure the final design looks unique and professional.
Readers do not have the whole day to decide whether to buy your book. The blurb alone can either sell the book or turn readers away.
1. Keep it short, sharp, and to the point.
2. Avoid including your full biography, even if the book is based on your own life.
3. Always use professional photographs, not selfies or unclear images. Some phones do produce quality pictures, but it is still worth investing time and resources into producing a polished product.
Many readers complain that some self-published books fall short of professional standards. Why is this happening? Too often, writers rely only on internet tools and neglect to add their own creative touch.
At Samnko Books, we are here to assist you if you need help with cover design, blurbs, or overall book presentation.
Take care,
