Vernon "SixGuns" Kroezen Triumphs at Punisher Slap Fight 13
The exhilarating world of slap fighting captured the attention of spectators at the Punisher Slap Fight 13 competition held at Middleburg High School during the Craven week rugby trials. The event drew a sizable crowd eager to witness this emerging sport, which has gained traction in South Africa over the past few years.
Vernon "SixGuns" Kroezen entered the ring aiming for the coveted number six ranking in the heavyweight division, facing off against his formidable opponent, Keagen "Klein Marx." After a tense and gripping battle that extended into the fifth round, Kroezen emerged victorious. This win secured his qualification for the next event, Punisher Slap Fight 14, scheduled for 23 August 2025 at Carnival City, where he will compete in a double-header alongside Boxing 5.
Kroezen's appeal has rapidly grown among younger fans, a testament to the sport’s burgeoning popularity in South Africa. Slap fighting, though relatively new on the local scene, has a well-established following worldwide. Robert Krish, the CEO and founder of Punisher Slap Fight, introduced the discipline to South Africa three years ago, and it has since flourished, gaining a loyal fanbase.
Efforts are currently underway to have slap fighting formally recognized as an official sport in the country.
