“I just don’t have any creative ideas to give you…”

That was her honest response… and I was shocked.

I had just had a small elevator pitch to someone incredibly dear to me - encouraging her to take her image consulting business to the next level (because she’s soooo talented!!) I offered to handle her marketing just to get the ball rolling.

But what she said next stopped me in my tracks:
👉 “I just don’t have the ideas or creative capacity to give you good content for social media.”

And oh my — did that hit me.
Because I realise now how many business owners might feel the same.

Here’s the truth:
You’re NOT supposed to have the ideas.
That’s my job. 💡

Something I’ve been thinking about lately….

Something I hold close - and that’s reflected in the Social Oaks logo - is the olive branch. It’s not just a design choice. In Scripture, the olive tree symbolises peace, restoration, and deep-rooted faith. After the flood, it was an olive leaf that the dove brought back - a sign of hope, and a fresh start.

That meaning matters to me.

As a social media manager, I pour a lot of care and thought into the work I do. But I also know I’m not immune to mistakes - whether it’s missing a post, a delay, or something that just slips through. When that happens, I don’t want to brush over it. I’d rather be honest, acknowledge it, and extend my own olive branch - not as a gesture of apology alone, but of trust, humility, and the willingness to grow.

I don’t aim for perfection. I aim to show up with integrity - even when things go sideways.

To all my clients, thanks for being part of the journey. And thank you for the grace.

Are you too busy?

I’ve seen how busy my clients are.

Many times our meetings are scheduled (more like postponed to) after-work hours due to them not being able to sit down with me for 30 minutes. It’s because their clients are more important than me, and that’s how it should be.

I always say, if you are too busy to meet with me, then I must be doing something right!

Our Story

Locally Lekker Boeremark will be the event of the year, held in Middelburg, MP. We will make our first debut on February 29th, 2020, with the most unique stands yet. We aim to hold a high standard in the products that will be sold so you can walk away having had a unique experience with good music, good company and with all the different vendors we have to offer. Our vendors are also carefully selected to ensure that this unique experience promotes our authentic products, anything from handmade products, gourmet foods, unique designs, beautiful art, to hand crafted baby products, and plenty more.

Not only is this a great way to bring our community together on a day of relaxation and new experience, we also aim to promote our great variety of locally made products. We wish to bring each person a day of fun where we cater to everyone's needs. There will be a kiddies corner where they can have fun on a jumping castle and enjoy face painting, while all adults can enjoy decadent gourmet foods and drink, while perusing through all the products of art and design each vendor has to offer.

Here at Locally Lekker we also care about our community and have therefore decided that part of the R20 entrance per person will go toward a specific cause at each event. This aspect sets Locally Lekker aside to show that we care. Have a look out at each event to see to which cause or organisation these funds will be donated to.
