A Piano of Legends Arrives at Mastermax

She’s here. 🎹✨

Today, the C. Bechstein Grand Piano No. 6237 arrived at her new home – settling into her cosy room at Mastermax Studios.

This piano has been played by legends:

🎼 Gustavo Romero
🎼 Philippe Raskin
🎼 Vitaly Pisarenko
🎼 Nina Schumann & Luis Magalhaes
🎼 …and many more.

After nearly 150 years of music-making, countless performances, and an incredible journey across Europe and South Africa, she begins her next chapter with us.

From today onward, her extraordinary voice will sing again – captured in recordings made right here at Mastermax, becoming part of our sound and legacy.

Meet the C. Bechstein Grand Piano No. 6237, built in Berlin in 1873.

This remarkable instrument has traveled from naval mess halls in Portsmouth, to homes in Scotland, Belfast, Glasgow, Cape Town, McGregor, and Wahnfried – where it was played by world-renowned pianists such as Ammiel Bushakevitz, Gustavo Romero, Philippe Raskin, Mark Fransman, Vitaly Pisarenko, and Nina Schumann, to name only a few.

Now, this legendary piano begins its next chapter with us – becoming the main recording piano at Mastermax Studios, where its exceptional tonal depth and clarity will inspire generations of artists.🎶

We had the incredible privilege of teaming up with Simeon Hamman for his latest EP, where he worked with the legendary producer and arranger Mauritz Lotz on this truly special project.

You’ll get a glimpse inside our beautiful Studio 1, the large format multi-room recording studio inside the iconic Mastermax Studios in Midrand, South Africa.

Over just two days, we recorded six songs with some of the finest musicians you’ll ever hear:
🥁 David Klassen, 🎸 Rixi Roman, 🎹 Jaconell Mouton, and 🎸 Mauritz Lotz.

This documentary captures not only the music, but also the energy, collaboration, and creative magic that happens when world-class musicians come together in one space.
