"The heated battle over councillorship wedged by young people"
Young people have wedged a war to take over all corridors of council in the upcoming local general elections of 2026. Residents also raised voices for a new regime of transformation led by young people.
On the other hand, the old generations have not backed down for the second, and third terms in coming.
The communities have raised the assessment aspect of all deployees and what they have done and achieved in their term.
It is also reported that in ward 6, Modimolle Mookgophong Local Municipality.The young generation has taken radical position to contest for councillorship.
The ANCYL has spoken through their chairperson and secretary, "the hour of youth has struck, "said the ANCYL Monotong branch.
It is also reported that the youth league in ward 6 has adopted the program of moswa paleng , threw theirs weight, and are rallying behind their branch chairperson Refilwe Rosina Moloto,a feminist and community activist
In an interview with the Refilwe Moloto , she indicated " The bigger objective is to allow the people to contribute to road map of and the Intergrated Development plan,to monitor the IDP as the strategic tool to community and economic development, allowing community participation and ensuring proper interaction of the people with their local government.The identification of the childheaded families who needs assistance, people living with disability ,senior citizens, prioritization of youth interests and addressing the triple crisis challenges of unemployment, poverty and inequality.
Advocating for the provision of service delivery to the People which include affordable electricity , water supply, refuse removal , street lighting, better roads,fight for services for people in Formal and informal settlement, formalizing the informal settlements, transparent recruitment proceses ,Skills development and ensuring better treatments of our people"
