Your kung fu is good, but you lack discipline.

‘Monkey Shadow’ is a state of being. It is the sum total of my experiences as I have tripped, stumbled, and strolled through life. Eating stuff I found on the floor, burning myself when I was warned against playing with fire and being bitten by various creatures after being told not to poke them with sticks, I have learned many things. When I’m not u

nraveling the mysteries, being frustrated by fly fishing or charging around in the dirt, avoiding broken bones and head wounds on motorbikes - I’m working. What this involves is anyone’s guess as every day is different but the general consensus is that I’m putting all my years experience at the bigger, advertising agencies to good use. Finding effective advertising and design solutions for clients large or small, from logos, experiential opportunities, design and layout, web design, through to complete campaigns, including print, TV and radio. Living in the shadow of the mountain, with the sea on the one side and the vlei on the other, in Muizenberg, Cape Town, I plot and scheme and wonder where to take ‘Monkey Shadow’ next.

Monkey Shadow had the privilege of woking on the design and collateral for the Open Society Foundation For South Africa’s 25 year Commemorative Celebration. A two day event that included tours, a photography exhibition, a documentary film screening, panel discussions, public lectures, and a VIP gala dinner.

I worked alongside Molly Smit, who calls herself and event coordinator but she’s so much more than that. Along with managing the creative workflow, Molly and her team put the whole event together, no small feat. More on Molly can be found on her website - www.mollysmit.co.za.

Collateral created included: Banners, banner walls, general and VIP invites, logistic documents, event programme, Red Umbrella logo device and banner, wrapping paper, posters, digital banners, Powerpoint slides, and stickers.

It was fantastic to be involved with such an important event. More pics to follow.
