The Lobito Corridor: A Game-Changer for Regional Mining Logistics!

We were privileged to attend Session 7 / Round Table on the vital role of the Lobito Corridor at the Conferência Internacional de Minas de Angola 2025 (AIMC 2025) in Luanda.

The session, titled “Preparação para o Crescimento: O Corredor do Lobito e o seu Papel na Logística Mineira Regional” (Preparation for Growth: The Lobito Corridor and its Role in Regional Mining Logistics), featured an excellent panel of experts discussing how this crucial infrastructure project will unlock the full potential of the Copperbelt (DRC & Zambia) and position Angola as a strategic logistics hub for critical minerals.

Connecting the mineral-rich interior to the Atlantic port of Lobito is set to radically reduce transport costs and transit times, injecting new life into the mining sectors of the region.

Fantastic insights from all the panelists.

Booyco Engineering warns that rising ambient temperatures are exposing flaws in how HVAC systems are specified for mobile mining and quarrying equipment, with many buyers relying solely on kilowatt ratings. Managing Director Brenton Spies notes this trend often results in underperforming systems on site as not all HVAC units with the same kW rating are engineered for the same operating conditions.

“These standards exist to guide the design, testing and validation of systems for specific environments,” Spies explains.
