A tragic robbery at Sjava's Tavern in Tjovitjo Phase 2, Block D has left the community in shock after a woman was killed during the incident over the weekend around midnight.

According to reports, customers were robbed of their cellphones before the situation turned deadly. Sadly, one woman lost her life.

Our deepest condolences go to her family, friends, and everyone affected by this heartbreaking tragedy. No one should lose their life because of criminals targeting innocent people.

With local government elections approaching, political parties are already working hard to win the hearts of Orange Farm residents.

Many residents say they are tired of ongoing problems such as crime, water shortages, unemployment, poor roads and service delivery failures. This has opened the door for parties like ActionSA, Rise Mzansi and MK Party to challenge the ANC's long-standing dominance in the area.

ActionSA has been visible in several communities, focusing on service delivery and local government accountability. MK Party continues to attract support from voters looking for political change, while the EFF remains popular among many young people. Rise Mzansi is also working to build support as a new alternative.

However, the ANC still has strong structures and loyal supporters across Orange Farm, making it a difficult party to unseat.

A young man from Extension 6 was allegedly beaten by community members last night after being accused of theft.

According to information received, the young man repeatedly told residents that he was innocent and had not stolen anything, but the assault continued.

Witnesses say an elderly man who was passing by later intervened and informed the crowd that they had the wrong person and that the suspect was actually the young man's friend.

ILLEGAL INITIATION SCHOOLS CONTINUE TO SPREAD FEAR NEAR N1

Illegal initiation schools operating near the N1 highway and surrounding areas including the Vaal, Sebokeng and Orange Farm remain a serious concern for residents and authorities.

Community members allege that criminal syndicates are using some of these illegal schools to abduct young boys, extort families and demand ransom money. Residents say some victims are forced into initiation camps against their will, while others are allegedly assaulted or threatened.

The issue has created fear among families as winter initiation season continues. Residents claim some of the schools are operating deep in bushes and isolated areas where monitoring becomes difficult.

Community leaders are now calling for stronger police visibility, investigations and immediate shutdown of all unregistered initiation schools. Parents are also being urged to verify whether initiation schools are legally registered before sending children there.

🚨 EXT 9 PHASE 1 RESIDENTS CRY FOR HELP OVER WATER CRISIS 🚨

Residents of Ext 9 Phase 1 in Ward 1 say they have been living without proper water supply for almost 3 years after the sewerage project affected the area’s water system.

Community members say they have repeatedly asked for help but have received no proper feedback from authorities. Residents claim they even emailed Johannesburg Water, and officials later came to pump the pipes, but only a small amount of dirty water came out.

Families say they are suffering daily, struggling to cook, clean, bathe, and survive without reliable water. Residents are now calling on Johannesburg Water and local leadership to urgently intervene and provide permanent solutions.

“Three years without water is too much. We need answers and action,” said one frustrated resident.
