25 Year In Prison For Attempting To Murder Wife: Amanzimtoti - KZN
A Durban - KZN man who orchestrated the Attempted Murder of his wife and later fled KwaZulu-Natal has been sentenced to 25 years imprisonment in the Umbumbulu Regional Court in KZN on Friday, 6 March 2026.
Ramith Aneerudh (38) of Newlands West - KZN pleaded guilty to Attempted Murder, Conspiracy To Commit Murder, Kidnapping, Robbery With Aggravating Circumstances and Theft. The Court ordered that the additional sentences run concurrently with the 25 year sentence imposed for Attempted Murder.
The incident occurred on 13 March 2024 after Aneerudh lured his wife, Sarika Bridgmohan, to a secluded area in Winkelspruit - KZN under the pretext of collecting documents from an Attorney.
Upon arrival, two (2) accomplices confronted the woman and allegedly strangled her (image 1/3) with a rope before placing her into another vehicle. Believing she was dead after she lost consciousness, the suspects drove towards the Ifafa area on the KZN South Coast, where they intended disposing of her body.
The victim later regained consciousness and jumped from the moving vehicle and sustained bodily injuries (image 2) before flagging down passing motorists who assisted her.
On Sunday, 14 April 2024, the victim fearing for her life, contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) requesting assistance to locate the suspects. She believed that another attempt would be made to murder her if the suspects were not incarcerated without delay.
Reaction Officers immediately initiated an investigation and recovered the victimβs White GWM vehicle in a remote rural area in Umzinto - KZN on a rainy Monday, 15 April 2024 (image 10/11) using all wheel drive & 4X4 bakkies. Information received thereafter indicated that the suspects had fled KwaZulu-Natal.
Reaction Officers travelled approximately 560 kilometres to Coffee Bay in the Eastern Cape where they kept observation over a home on the side of a mountain. Imformation wa
