Ngwathe Local Municipality attends to smelly water outcry!

Ngwathe Local Municipality has issued a statement responding to a concern by residents of Tumahole regarding tap water not smelling properly.

In a statement issued by Ngwathe Communications Unit 'This communique serves to update residents and stakeholders that the Parys water treatment plant is still under refurbishment as per our previous communication. However, the municipality has noted some feedback from residents regarding dark colored water coming from taps. The technical team has already started flushing out the network and dosing at the reservoirs to improve water quality.

Residents are humbly requested to be patient during this period. For further updates, residents are requested to liaise with their respective Councillors.

Abazimele in Tumahole finally gets electricity

The Executive Mayor Cllr Victoria De Beer-Mthombeni keeps her word to improve the conditions of Abazimele residents in Tumahole, just behind Botjhabatsatsi primary school.

The Executive Mayor flanked by MMCs, ward Councillors, Municipal Manager Dr F.P Mothamaha and Directors, handed over electricity supply project to residents of Abazimele in Tumahole and Extension 4 in Mokwallo, respectively.

In a media statement issued by Ngwathe Communications Unit, the Executive Mayor said "As part of commitments we made during the State of The Municipality Address 2025, improving service delivery in the best interests of the people, remains our fundamental priority as Ngwathe Local Municipality. The issue of Abazimele in Ward 11 for instance, where 85 sites are electrified, has been a long term debacle and residents in this area are now happy that finally they have electricity supply in their homes. In Vredefort, Extension 4 is another living example where 375 sites are beneficiaries of our service delivery achievements"

The Executive Mayor further requested residents to report any illegal connections or damages to electricity meters to Councillors with immediate effect.

Abazimele section has been surrounded by controversy about lack of proper services to such an extent Parliament of the Republic noted their concerns. The municipality has also assisted with Jojo water tanks in the area.
