Here on the farm, I’m all about 𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐲, 𝐧𝐨 𝐟𝐮𝐬𝐬 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐬 that don’t keep me stuck in the kitchen. I thought I’d share one of our family favourites…Deboned Roasted Sheep rib.

Nothing fancy, just honest, hearty Karoo food. Over time, these “basic” recipes have become absolute staples here on the farm, and once you try them, you’ll see why.

This recipe is perfect for the oven or slow on the braai. The trick? 𝐋𝐨𝐰 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐥𝐨𝐰...
Tender, juicy, flavour-packed, and guaranteed to have your guests asking for more.



𝐃𝐄𝐁𝐎𝐍𝐄𝐃 𝐑𝐎𝐀𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐃 𝐒𝐇𝐄𝐄𝐏 𝐑𝐈𝐁

Ingredients
• 1 sheep rib & loin, deboned
• Olive oil
• Salt & pepper
• Optional spices: I love to use Ina Paarman’s Garlic Pepper + Marina Braai Salt - but honestly, even just salt works fine!



Method
1. Place the deboned rib on a baking tray.
2. Drizzle olive oil over both sides and rub it in.
3. Season generously with salt and pepper (and your spice of choice).
4. Preheat oven to 150°C.
5. Roast for about 1 hour before checking.
6. After the first hour, check every 15–20 minutes until browned and tender.
7. Slice into thin strips and serve hot.
