Did readers see the recent video of a rhino gorging a bakkie? The white rhino was being relocated to Heidelberg. When it was released from the trailer, it went to the front of the bakkie, lifted it up and gorged it badly.

Summer is getting a foot in the door, as we see the first of the rains making an appearance. International forecasts for southern African are 50-75% in favour of a La Nina event over the September-December period, which typically brings “good rains” to the region.

If the forecast is to be believed, there is some rain ahead, which will hopefully give the rivers the required push over the next week or so.

KwaZulu-Natal Transport MEC Siboniso Duma has vowed to crack down on the illegal use of blue lights, warning that reckless convoys are endangering ordinary motorists and fuelling lawlessness on the province’s roads.

The Child and Family Welfare Society in Pietermaritzburg is appealing for donations to help strengthen security after being hit by burglaries for three consecutive weekends, with the most recent incidents taking place last weekend and again on Monday.
