As an all-female team working in PR, strategy and storytelling, we spend our days amplifying voices, shaping narratives and helping organisations be heard.
But tomorrow, the message we stand behind is far bigger: 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝟏𝟓 𝐰𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐦𝐮𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐞 𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚, 𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐋𝐆𝐁𝐓𝐐𝐈+ 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐬𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲. It is a stand against brutality that has become unbearably ordinary.
Gender-based violence is not an issue for “women” to fix - it is a national emergency cutting across gender, sexuality, identity, and community. This Shutdown is a reminder that silence is not neutral. Visibility matters. Disruption matters. Stories matter.
Tomorrow’s G20 Women’s Shutdown is not just another moment on the calendar - 𝐢𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐜𝐫𝐲, 𝐚 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐤𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐰𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫.
We stand with survivors, with activists and with every person who has felt unsafe, unheard, or unseen. We encourage you to take part in any way you can:
✨ 𝐉𝐨𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝟏𝟓-𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐭𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 - Lie down for 15 minutes at 12pm to honour the 15 women murdered every day.
✨ 𝐖𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐛𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤
✨𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐩𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐥𝐞. Let the Shutdown be visible online.
✨ 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞. 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞. 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞. Talk about it. Post about it. Use and help make this movement too loud, too unified and too powerful to overlook.
Tomorrow, we show our solidarity - not out of defeat, but out of defiance. Out of love. Out of hope for a South Africa where every woman and every LGBTQI+ person, is valued and protected.
