An alleged attempt was made to bribe a journalist with R60,000 to halt an investigation.Daily Maverick journalist Pieter-Louis Myburgh held a meeting with IDT CEO Tebogo Malaka and his spokesperson Phasha Makgolane.

Myburgh was conducting an investigation into alleged corruption at IDT when, during the meeting, an offer of R60,000 was made to silence him—unaware that the entire exchange was being recorded. Malaka is currently under investigation over an R836 million tender.

BREAKING NEWS: WOMAN KILLED AND HANDS CHOPPED OFF BY BOYFRIEND
Limpopo police have confirmed the identity of the woman who was brutally murdered in a gruesome domestic incident at Tshidzini Mutshili, under the Tshaulu policing precinct, near Makhado.

The victim has been identified as 41-year-old Ramukumba Portia Motodzi.

Her lifeless body was discovered in a pool of blood with her hands chopped off on Saturday, August 2, just before 1pm, by her 18-year-old son who had been searching for her after failing to reach her earlier.

According to Provincial Police Spokesperson, Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba, the son encountered his father walking out of the gate upon arriving home. When he asked about his mother’s whereabouts, the father reportedly became aggressive, shouting at him and threatening to beat him.

“The son then proceeded to a separate two-roomed house on the property in search of his mother, but found the door locked. He broke it down to gain entry and was shocked to discover his mother’s body lying in a pool of blood,” Mashaba said.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and police were called to the scene, and the woman was declared dead on arrival

BREAKING NEWS: MOTHER ( 20 ) ARRESTED FOR STRANGLING HER THREE - MONTH OLD BABY
A 20-year-old woman, Andisani Dephney Nthabalala, from Mailaskop Village, has briefly appeared in the Tsh*tale Magistrates’ Court facing a charge of murder.

It is alleged that on 01 August 2025, the accused killed her three-month-old infant by pressing her leg against the child’s neck until the baby succumbed to the injuries.

Witnesses attempted to rush the infant to the nearest clinic, but she was certified dead on arrival.

The case has been postponed to 12 August 2025 to allow the accused to secure legal representation.

The suspect will remain in custody until her next court appearance.

BREAKING NEWS: GAUTENG SAFETY HOD AND CFO SUSPENDED OVER ALLEGED FINANCIAL IRREGULARITIES
Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi has suspended the Head of Department, Nontsikelelo Sisulu, and Chief Financial Officer, Mduduzi Malope, from the Department of Community Safety with immediate effect, effective 5 August 2025.

Their suspension comes in the wake of a forensic investigation conducted by the Provincial Forensic Audit Unit in the Premier’s Office, which revealed financial irregularities within the department.

BREAKING NEWS: TOP POLTICIAN TO BE ARRESTED FOR SHOOTING OF A 9-YEAR OLD GIRL IN JUJU VELLY
Limpopo Deputy Police Commissioner for Crime Detection Major General Samuel Manala say they have sufficient evidence to arrest suspects in the attempted murder case related to the shooting of nine-year-old girl.

The victim, Tshiamo Lebaka, was shot and wounded during a clash between ANC and EFF members during last year elections campaign.

Manala believes they have a watertight case against the suspects.Manala says a docket has been sent to the Directorate for Publc Prosecution for a decision.

Amongst those involved in the clash included senior ANC officials and members of the EFF.

BREAKING NEWS: MJOLO ENDS IN DEATH FOR A 15-YEAR OLD GIRL
A 15-year-old girl tragically lost her life, and her 27-year-old boyfriend was injured, in a shooting incident in Buffelsdraai, KwaZulu-Natal, late Monday night.

The Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) was alerted to the incident around 11:33 p.m. Upon arrival at the scene, first responders found the young girl's body in a rondavel. Her boyfriend, who was reportedly shot in the back, had already been taken to the hospital privately.

According to RUSA, the couple was shot through a window. Five spent 9mm cartridges were recovered outside the home, indicating a violent and targeted attack. Police have opened a murder investigation, and the motive remains unknown at this time.

BREAKING NEWS: “LEPELLE-NKUMPI OFFICIALS USED MY IDENTITY FOR CORRUPTION”
A whistleblower whose identity was stolen by Lepelle-Nkumpi municipal officials to siphon money from the municipality coffers has spoken out. Simon Thobejane says his identity has been used since 2018 as a ghost worker and salary paid to unknown municipality officials.

Thobejane says he noticed this when he was applying for a his R350 Social Relief grant. He says he was declined the R350 because the system kept on saying he is working for government.

Thobejane says he opened a case of identity theft at Lebowakgomo Police Station where it was revealed that he is being used as a ghost worker at Lepelle-Nkumpi municipality.

“I went to the municipality to report about this. They said they have referred the matter to Risk Department to investigate. This issue has really disturbed me because it affected my life. Even when I wanted to register a company am told I am working and I was surprised”

Thobejane was ghosted as a general worker since 2018 earning about R20 000 per month.
This means the officials that have been benefiting pocketed over R1.5 million since 2018.

Thobejane says he wants those officials who have done this to be arrested.

“I want those officials to be arrested. I want the investigation by police to reveal who are those people “

Currently the Hawks and Special Investigating Unit are investigating allegations of corruption and maladminstration at the municipality.

Senior officials at the municipality has since resigned and other fired for corruption.

BREAKING NEWS: RESIDENTS OF MOHLALAOTOANE WELCOMED NEW TARR ROAD
Residents of Mohlalaotoane and Motwaneng have welcomed the appointment of the new contractor to upgrade their road to tarr.

The two villages have been struggling with access road for decades. They say the appointment of the contractor by Public Works MEC Enerst Rachoene will help their children access school during raining seasons and ensure they have access to Jane Furse Town.

The appointment of the contractors is the second of the 21 promised by MEC Rachoene during budget speech.

Rachoene says they will be appointing more contractors in other districts.

BREAKING NEWS: YOUNG GIRL FOUND UNRESPONSIVE ALONG THE HIGHWAY
young girl has been found lying on the side of the road along Mangosuthu Highway near kwaMnyandu ( KwaZulu-Natal Province ) not so long ago.

She is unresponsive, unable to speak or move, and appears uninjured but unconscious.

She has since been taken by ambulance to Prince Mshiyeni Hospital.

If anyone recognises her or knows her family, please go to Mshiyeni Hospital to check.
