MAN KILLS WIFE AND CHILDREN

KZN-The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Mpumalanga have opened a murder and inquest investigation following the discovery of three charred remains inside a burnt-out vehicle early on Friday, 24 October 2025, in the Boekehouthoek area near Kwaggafontein.

According to police spokesperson Jabu Ndubane, the bodies are believed to be those of a 32-year-old woman, identified as Lucia Thembisile Mahiyane and her two children, aged 7 and 4.

The suspect, the husband/father aged 37, allegedly admitted to his uncle that he had killed his wife and children by setting them alight inside the vehicle at the Zithabiseni Bridge area.

Upon receiving the tip-off, police located the suspect at his grandparents’ home in Boekehouthoek.

He was foaming at the mouth and an ambulance was called, but he died at the scene. Preliminary investigation suggests that he ingested poison following the killings.

Major-General Zeph Mkhwanazi, Provincial Commissioner of Police in Mpumalanga, condemned the act in the strongest terms, emphasising that domestic conflict and gender-based violence must be addressed through legal and counselling channels not violence.

The case adds to the ongoing national concern over gender-based violence and family homicides in South Africa. Investigators have opened cases of three counts of murder plus an inquest docket.

TRADEDY STRIKES MAMELODI: TWO COUSINS FOUND DEAD

PRETORIA | A heartbreaking incident has shaken the Mamelodi community after two cousins, believed to be in their youth, were found dead in Extension 7. According to reports, the cousins were killed in the early hours of the morning, around 4am, 26 October 2025, shortly after returning from Groove.

The circumstances surrounding their death are still under investigation, but sources suggest that a bouncer may be responsible. Allegedly, the suspect spent around R10,000 on alcohol for the victims on the night of their death.

The Mamelodi community is outraged, and tensions ran high as residents took matters into their own hands. Frustrated by the suspect's disappearance, they torched his house, leaving it in ashes.

The Aubrey Motau Foundation has condemned the violent act and expressed shock and sadness over the incident. The organization's founder, Mr. Motau, has offered a reward of R250,000 for any information leading to the capture of the suspect on Moja Love TV Call Centre 0100011060.

The police are currently conducting investigations, but no arrests have been made yet. The community is urged to remain calm and allow the authorities to handle the situation.

Let's come together to support the victims' families during this difficult time. If you have any information about the incident, please contact the authorities or the Aubrey Motau Foundation.

AFRIKA MAYIBUYE MOVEMENT DISMISS THEIR FIRST DEPUTY PRESIDENT

The Afrika Mayibuye Movement, led by former EFF deputy president Floyd Shivambu, has announced the immediate removal of its First Deputy President, Nolusabalo Mcinga.

In a statement, the party cited “unauthorised meetings with rival political leaders” as a serious breach of organisational integrity".

While Mcinga’s membership remains intact pending disciplinary proceedings, the decision marks the first major internal shake-up since the party’s launch in June.

The move framed by Shivambu as a step to protect the movement from “infiltration and abuse of office for personal gain” has sparked debate over growing factionalism within the fledgling left-wing organisation.

LIVESTOCK THIEVES TO REAPPEAR IN COURT

Moagi Motlhabane and Sipho Tobi, both aged 27, are expected to reappear in the Groot Marico Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 25 November 2025, on a charge of stocktheft.

The accused made initial court appearances on Monday, 20 October 2025 and Tuesday, 21 October 2025, after being arrested by members of the Lehurutshe Stock Theft and Endangered Species (STES) Unit at Brakkuil and Koffiekraal villages, Madikwe on Friday, 17 October 2025. The pair were arrested following the theft of 11 cattle worth R254 000.00, on Thursday, 16 October 2025. After becoming aware of the incident, the farmer searched around the farm and found one of the cattle and a calf, but bearing new brand marks. Ensuing police investigations identified the registered owner of the brand mark.

Information was later received and followed up regarding a speculator who was about to auction cattle, including the one with a new brand mark. The questioning of the speculator at the Zeerust Auction, culminated in the impounding of the cattle and the recovery of the farmer’s five cattle.

Moagi Motlhanke was, upon appearance before the court, granted R3000.00 bail while Sipho Tobi, who is from Lesotho, abandoned the bail application. He is also facing a further charge of contravention of the Immigration Act, 2002. Investigations into the matter continue.

CRISIS IN SENWABARWANA: LEARNERS STRANDED DURING EXAMS AS GOVERNMENT FAILS TO ACT!

Learners from Thabana-Nhlana (Ward 3, Blouberg Municipality) have not attended Mohlakeng Combined School since Monday — right in the middle of their exams. The school bus that once transported them is parked and not operating, after the Department of Education claimed the road is “too sandy” for travel.

Frustrated parents are now fixing the road with their bare hands, while officials ignore their pleas. Learners face a 17.5 km walk through dangerous bush paths, risking their safety to reach school.

To make matters worse, teachers at Mohlakeng Combined School were reportedly seen pulling learners out of class to fix the road instead of learning.

This is a disgrace and a violation of children’s right to education. The Department of Education must act NOW — restore safe transport and protect our children!

Share this post, comment, and tag the Department — our learners deserve better!
