The first strong cold front of the year & SEVERE TROPICAL CYCLONE FREDDY seen on the Satellite loop

COLD FRONT:

1) A strong cold front is making landfall over the Western Cape this Monday morning with gusting winds and scattered showers
2) Ahead of the cold front berg winds will heat up KwaZulu-Natal

SEVERE WEATHER ALERTS issued by SAWS:

IMPACT-BASED WARNINGS

🟑Yellow Level 2 warning for disruptive over the City of Cape Town, western parts of Overberg as well as the southern parts of Cape Winelands.

🟑Yellow Level 2 Warning for Damaging Wind resulting in localised problems for high-sided vehicles on prone routes are expected over the central and northern parts of the Western Cape and southern Namakwa of the Northern Cape.

🟑Yellow Level 2 Warning for Wind and Waves resulting in very rough and choppy seas as well as difficulty in navigation at sea are expected between Saldanha Bay and Plettenberg Bay, spreading eastwards reaching Port St. Johns but

🟑Yellow Level 4 between Betty`s Bay and Cape Agulhas in the morning. D. Yellow Level 1 Warning for Winds of at least 60 km/h with a gust of 85 km/h, resulting localised damage to infrastructure are expected over the north-western and northern central parts of the Eastern Cape.

πŸŒ€CYCLONE FREDDYπŸŒ€:

⚠️⚠️⚠️This is a dangerous system. Damaging winds, heavy rainfall, storm surge, rough seas, mudslides, and flash flooding are all possible risks.

FREDDY is located 420 km east-northeast of Port Louis, Mauritius, and has moved west-southwestward at 31 km/h (17 knots) over the past 6 hours.

FREDDY is forecast to pass north of both Mauritius and La Reunion within the next 24 hours before making landfall along the south-central coast of Madagascar very late on Tuesday (21/02/2023)

The forecast calls for an intensity of 205 km/h (110 knots) before slamming into Madagascar as a SEVERE TROPICAL
