The Yellow Arum Lily Festival, Africa's largest flower event, is set to take place on November 29, 2025, Roossenekal Community Hall.
The Yellow Arum Lily, a striking flower that flourishes exclusively in the Sekhukune region on the peak of the Leolo Mountain, after the refreshing summer rains of November. This festival not only honors the endangered Zantedeschia Jucunda and its cousin, Zantedeschia Pentlandia, but also serves as a testament to the rich cultural heritage of the Bapedi people, who have historically revered these blooms as sacred emblems of their connection to nature.
The Sekhukhune Development Agency invites the community to a day filled with traditional performances, educational exhibitions, and local crafts, all while advocating for the preservation of these endangered species by emphasizing the critical importance of protecting the delicate ecological balance of the Leolo Mountains.
