🇿🇦 ✈️ Aviation Heritage Tribute
On this Heritage Day, we celebrate South Africa’s proud aviation legacy — a story written in the roar of radial engines and the grace of classic wings.
From the thunderous Harvard to the elegant Tiger Moth, the rugged Boeing Stearman, and the powerful Hawker Sea Fury, these aircraft are more than machines — they’re airborne chapters of history.
Joy who turned 100 few months back may well be the last living woman in the world to have worked on Harvards during World War II (1942–1946). As an aircraft mechanic, she defied convention and helped keep these icons of flight battle-ready. Her legacy is a living testament to courage and craftsmanship.
We also salute some of the legendary pilots who’ve carried this heritage forward:
🛩️ Stu Davidson — warbird maestro and airshow icon
🛩️ Scully Levin — aerobatic pioneer and aviation mentor
🛩️ Captain Flippie Vermeulen — classic aircraft commander and heritage ambassador
Today, we honor not just the aircraft, but the people — past and present — who’ve kept our skies alive with passion, precision, and pride.
