Prof. Blade Nzimande, the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation of South Africa visited Eswatini KwaMagogo, A Living Monument of the Liberation Struggle nestled in Trelawney Park, Manzini, Eswatini, KwaMagogo (House No. 43) is far more than a house,it is a sacred site in the history of Southern Africa’s liberation struggle. For decades, it served as a safe house, meeting point, intelligence hub, and operational base for members of the ANC, PAC, and Umkhonto we Sizwe (MK) who were fighting against apartheid.
Although full records of all individuals who passed through the house are not publicly available due to the secrecy of underground operations, historical accounts confirm that senior ANC members and MK operatives including figures such as Jacob Zuma and Thabo Mbeki were among those who operated within ANC exile structures in Eswatini and related safe house networks. KwaMagogo played a crucial role in sheltering, coordinating, and supporting liberation activities across Southern Africa.
Today, it stands as a symbol of resilience, solidarity, and the sacrifices made in the struggle for freedom
