, 57 years old and incarcerated at FCI Butner, North Carolina is currently in the hospital after a reported overdose on medication administered by prison staff while in solitary confinement. The administration of what his attorneys describe as a dangerous dose occurred on June 12, and he collapsed the following day. Hospital doctors at Duke University reportedly discovered life-threatening blood clots in his lungs and legs and say he required urgent treatment .

His lawyers allege this incident ties into a larger alleged plot: they claim that prison officials conspired with a white‑supremacist inmate Mikeal Glenn Stine to arrange his assassination, in exchange for favors like sentence reduction. Shortly after Kelly exposed the plot, he was placed in solitary, given excessive anxiety medication, and ultimately overdosed.

Despite medical advice, prison officials reportedly removed him from the hospital against doctor’s orders and returned him to solitary confinement. His legal team argues this amount to “deliberate indifference” to his life and seeks emergency home confinement. Federal prosecutors counter that the request is procedurally flawed and “deeply unserious.” A court hearing is set for June 20
