It doesn’t start with turning the key. It starts with goosebumps. That electric tingle that snakes up your spine and slaps your soul awake. Your arms prickle, your heart starts beating like a tribal drum solo, and somewhere between adrenaline and oxygen deprivation, you realise—you’ve been holding your breath.

Then it hits you! A sensory mugging...

The engine purrs, then growls... like a kitten possessed by a banshee. G-forces rearrange your internal organs while revs rise like a choir of angry lions. You taste dust, blink through sweat, and smile like a octane fed lunatic. Because in front of you is a "fever dream on wheels". The , sculpted like it escaped from a Dakar rally and crash-landed in a automotive showroom... and you can own one!

You need that kind of machine... the one that makes you walk away, stop mid-step, turn back, and say with a smirk, “Yep… that’s mine.” Not because you're showing off, but because it's impossible not to!

Ah yes, the lesser-spotted Toyota Fortuner, seen here camouflaged in its natural habitat: the long, waving grasslands of Suburbia-Safari.

Often mistaken for its larger cousin, the Land Cruiser, the Fortuner is known for sneaking into campsites, parking at awkward angles, and asserting dominance over gravel driveways. This one? Clearly trying to blend in with the Land Cruiser herd... although real off-roaders know… that grass patch is about as wild as its adventures get.

Majestic, isn't it? Quietly idling in eco-mode, dreaming of dunes it may never meet... Never the less...still a magic piece of machinery!

The sea throws its whole heart at the world... one heaving wave, then another... only to have the wind tear the spray backwards. Still it surges. Behind it, a hard-won sunrise pries open storm clouds, rain stitched in gold. That’s life! Effort meeting headwind, hope burning through weather reports. Let the pushback become proof of power. Keep driving forward, again and again, until your light writes its own horizon. Good Morning Everyone!

The WSL JBay Open wrapped up today in classic South African fashion... The weather couldn’t decide if it was throwing a tantrum or a beach party. One minute it looked like the apocalypse, the next it was all sunshine, sea spray and seagulls photobombing surfers. In the end? Not a bad day at all.

Connor O’Leary wasn’t bothered. He paddled out, switched into beast mode, and surfed like a man being chased by tax collectors... claiming victory over Yago Dora.

On the women’s side, Gabriela Bryan took the win over Molly Picklum with the kind of confidence you usually only see in Bond villains or toddlers with permanent markers.

Here’s just a few random snapshots from the day. More coming soon... once I dry off my gear and emotionally process the fact that I’ll never be that effortlessly cool.

The weather? Oh, it’s having an identity crisis. Sunshine one second, sideways rain the next, with a bit of wind just to make sure your sandwich ends up in someone else’s tent. But none of that matters… because the surfing? It’s absolutely on fire. Waves are shredding, boards are flying, and somewhere out there, Poseidon is clapping.

Just scrolled back through the Day One highlights and spotted this absolute machine… Matthew who didn’t arrive at J-Bay… he fell into it. Literally. Via parachute. Straight into his heat. No warm-up jog, no wax check, just fell from the sky like James Bond with a surfboard. Now that’s what I call making an entrance. The rest of us use the stairs… he used gravity. PhotoStories approved!
