Jabulani General Dealer, a prominent Sunnyside business, is facing scrutiny after accumulating a municipal debt exceeding R700,000 with the City of Tshwane due to unpaid bills. According to Dr. Nasiphi Moya, the City's Executive Mayor, the business not only failed to meet its financial obligations but also tampered with municipal infrastructure. Dr. Moya stated that upon inspection, the teams found the property had been illicitly disconnected from the electricity grid, posing public safety risks and straining city resources.

The unauthorized disconnection implies an intentional effort to evade electricity payments, viewed by city officials as both unethical and illicit. Following irregular consumption patterns flagged during an audit, municipal workers investigated and confirmed the business had manipulated the power supply to bypass monitoring and billing systems.

The Mamelodi community is facing significant hardship amidst numerous incomplete projects that are depleting resources, while residents continue to await the delivery of promised services. This situation arises following the commencement of construction on a second building at the Mamelodi Magistrate's Court in October 2023.

Court users are experiencing difficulties due to a lack of resources. According to Thami Mchunu, spokesperson for the Department of Public Works, the court was designed to provide efficient judicial services to Mamelodi and surrounding areas based on a needs analysis conducted by the Department of Justice.

A protest in Rosslyn brought traffic to a halt yesterday as young individuals from northern townships, including Ga-Rankuwa, Mabopane, Soshanguve, and Winterveldt, took to the streets to demand job opportunities. This demonstration coincides with South Africa's unemployment rate reaching 33.2%, disproportionately affecting young people. The protesters blocked roads and threatened to escalate their actions until their demands are met.

Dr. Luyenge, national spokesperson for the civic movement ISANCO, stated that the protest highlights the deep-seated frustration experienced by township youth, noting that the monthly R350 social relief grant is no longer viewed as adequate support.
