DID YOU KNOW?
In the UK, the two-letter prefix at the start of a number plate tells you where the car was first registered.
For example:
"LA" to "LY" = London
"MA" to "MY" = Manchester
"SA" to "SY" = Scotland
"KA" to "KY" = North East (Newcastle, etc.)
But that’s not all…
🗓️ The two-digit number in the middle tells you the car's age.
“24” = registered between March and August 2024
“74” = registered between September 2024 and February 2025
👀 Next time you see a UK plate like “MA24 HJK”, you’ll know it’s from Manchester, registered in 2024.
