Asylum Studios has been offereing professional recording and rehearsal facilities to the greater Gauteng area since 2001. Starting as a humble home recording studio with a desk and a pc, we have expanded to what we call "Asylum Live" which is a fully live recording environment with 3 guitar amp booths, drum room, vocal room and a spacious control room - all connected for quality live tracking - th

e way it should be! We also have fantastic rehearsal space available 7 days a week. Our technicians are all qualified sound engineers and degreed muscians from TUT Department of Light Music and Pretoria University Music Department. Weve been working with Robert Rumney for the past two years, helping him bring some extra audio zap to his already incredible game - Poached: Hunt the Hunter.

Think GTA, meets Far Cry, meets Skyrim, set in the wilds of South Africa as you set up to blast skelms to Pofadder and back, while crafting potjikos, dop mampoer and protect endangered animals from being turned into herbal aphrodisiacs.

We feel that thoughtful lyrics are essential to transforming a good song into a brilliant song.

Sure - you’re allowed to wrote whatever you want. Thats part of the artistic release. But those that really the take time to craft beautiful stanzas with compelling words, have an extra edge.

For the past few years, we have had the privilege of working closely with one of SA’s most important artists - Siyabonga Myhembu ( ) ✨

Siya is many things. He is singer, he is writer, he is activist, he is conceptual artist, he is coordinator, he is director, he is husband, he is brother, he is friend.

He also is one of the few artists who can say that their band has won over the alternative and progressive rock audiences as well as the jazz and afro/soul purists in the same swoop.

However, problem with South Africa is that people forget. And while one of the biggest exports this country has ever seen, is doing hundreds of overseas shows - kids a generation after have no clue who they are. This is such a unique phenomenon to South Africa and it needs to change.

Siya will make it change. One show at a time.
