South African lekompo musician Lehlogonolo “Shebeshxt” (or Shebe Maburna) Chauke remains in custody after the Limpopo High Court in Polokwane dismissed his latest bail appeal on 5 August 2026.

He has been held since his arrest in November 2025 (following an alleged 19 October 2025 road-rage shooting in Ladanna, Polokwane, in which a motorist was injured). He faces around 21 charges, which include multiple counts of attempted murder, culpable homicide, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, robbery with aggravating circumstances, malicious damage to property, reckless/negligent driving, and related firearm offences. Some charges stem from the 2025 incident and others from earlier consolidated cases; one illegal-firearm possession charge was previously withdrawn. These are treated as Schedule 6 offences, which place a high bar on the accused to show exceptional circumstances for bail.

South African Grammy-winning singer Tyla has removed the Lagos stop from her upcoming A*POP World Tour, days after the planned December 22 concert sparked widespread backlash in Nigeria.

The date, which had been listed as the only Nigerian show on the 34-date global itinerary supporting her recently released album APOP*, no longer appears on her official tour schedule as of Friday, July 31. Other dates across Europe, North America, and South Africa—including Cape Town on January 4 and Johannesburg on January 9—remain unchanged.
Tyla announced the tour earlier this week. The Lagos concert was set for the busy “Detty December” period and would have marked her first headline performance in Nigeria.

The announcement quickly drew criticism online, with many Nigerians calling for a boycott linked to ongoing reports of xenophobic attacks targeting Nigerian nationals in South Africa. Public figures, including activist VeryDarkMan (Martins Otse), publicly opposed the show.

Neither Tyla nor her management has issued a statement explaining the removal of the Lagos date or confirming whether the concert has been formally cancelled or postponed.
