Brian Berkman’s Pringle Proms brings Cape Town legend Terry Fortune to Pringle Bay. The intimate lunchtime event supports local animal welfare
Pringle Proms, Brian Berkman’s Pringle Bay-based cultural concert series, has announced its next intimate event: an in-conversation-and-song afternoon with veteran South African entertainer Terry Fortune, to be held on Saturday, 13 June 2026 in Pringle Bay.
The event begins at noon and is limited to just sixteen guests, in keeping with the Pringle Proms tradition of presenting leading South African artists in an unusually personal, home-based setting.
Terry Fortune — born Tyrone Robertson in Cape Town — created his stage persona in 1971 and has since built a career that spans cabaret, musical theatre and live performance across South Africa and abroad. His credits include David Kramer and Taliep Petersen's celebrated District Six — The Musical, performances at the Edinburgh Fringe, and appearances at the independence day celebrations of both Mozambique and Namibia. In 2021 he received the kykNET Fiëstas Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of more than fifty years of contribution to South African entertainment.
Host and travel and food writer Brian Berkman will conduct a live interview with Fortune, exploring his long and colourful career. Fortune will follow with a selection of songs.
A buffet lunch prepared by Berkman is included in the ticket price of R450 per person, along with beverages. Guests are invited to bring their own wine.
A portion of proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to KAWS — the Kleinmond Animal Welfare Society — a registered non-profit organisation serving the communities of Rooi Els, Pringle Bay, Betty's Bay and Kleinmond. Founded in 2001, KAWS provides shelter, veterinary care, sterilisation services and rehoming for neglected and abandoned animals along the Overberg coast. The charity holds particular significance for the Pringle Proms team: Julie, the resident and beloved mixed-breed, was adopted from KAWS.
