The 90s was a turning point for music and Tamil music was no exception to that.

Whilst Illayaraja continued dominating from the 80s into the 90s, taking Deva with him, new kid on the block, AR Rahman, became an instant success bringing about a revolution to Tamil music with his exploration of synthesizers and world-music influence, thereby creating a Golden Age for many.

This is part one of the countless hits to come out of the 90s.

To a man who stands as a true inspiration; who proved that if you have determination and can work hard, you can capture the world.

To a man who stands as the perfect example of rags to riches; who, as a boy, went from working multiple jobs to support his family and having to drop out of school, to winning 6 National Awards, 31 Filmfare Awards, 1 Golden Globe Award, 1 Bafta Award, 2 Academy Awards and 2 Grammy Awards.

He stepped onto the scene with humility and revolutionised Tamil music, giving a global generation a sound to identify with and be proud of, and made many across the world fall in love with the language through his music. But, as his music took over India, he broke-down cultural and language barriers, and showed the world the true power of music.

Here's to the Padmashri, the Kalaimaamani, the Mozart of Madras and forever, our Isapuyal... the kid from Chennai who went to become the Music King of the World.

Here's to the man with a golden voice, the producer, director, writer, musician and composer who also celebrates 3 decades as a music director this year and still remains relevant.

Here's wishing AR Rahman-sir iniya piRandha naaL nalvaaZHthukkaL and many more albums of musical gems to come.

I love that Kollywood is producing this out-and-out kiddies fantasy and I would like to see Tamil directors explore movies like these a bit more often, but also target the youth market.

Director M Ragavan is all set to release his 'My Dear boodham' which stars Dance Master/Actor in the lead role playing a genie, supported by Remya Nambeesan and six super talented kids.

The movie isn't just an entertainer packed with comedy but also focuses on difficulties faced by kids of today in this fast-paced high-tech world so, it's definitely one which parents need to also check out.

My Dear boodham has music by the award winning D Imman.

And with a smile... she captured the South.

After being crowned Miss Chennai in 1999, Trisha Krishnan played a small role in Jodi as Simran's friend, in the same year. Soon thereafter, she signed the lead role for both Lehsaa Lehsaa and Ennakku 20 Unnakku 18. However, whilst these films faced major delays, Mounam Pehsiyaadheh became her first major role release on the 13th of December 2002.

Trisha Krishnan has been quite interactive with her fans recently on social media. Apart from posting various exercises to keep fit during lockdown, the actress can be seen baking, dancing to her favourite tracks, and even going viral with the ‘Savage’ challenge.

The South Indian beauty who recently turned 37, has opened her socials for a few Q&A sessions with her fans. In a recent session, she was asked who she considered the best actor. Without even giving it a second thought, the Trisha fired-out three names: Kamal Haasan, Mohanlal and Aamir Khan.

Having been cast together with other big names in the industry, Trisha has already starred opposite Kamal Haasan in manmdhan ambu and will be seen alongside Mohanlal in the Malayalam movie Ram. Trisha almost had her chance to act with Aamir Khan back in 2012 when he was looking to remake the 2008 hit abhiyum naanum which starred Trisha and Prakash Raj in the lead. However, the project never materialised.

Whilst Trisha has five movies at various stages of production, she recently posted a video of her taking filming tips from Gautham Menon, who directed her in viNNaythaaNDi varuvaayaa. Many speculated that the two were planning a short movie together in lockdown and their hunch paid-off.

Trisha has now posted a teaser of the short movie which seems to be a spin-off from VTV. She is seen on her phone, speaking to the character Karthik, which was played by Silambarasan, requesting him to put his talent to good use and create content whilst in lockdown. It is unknown whether Silambarasan will feature in the short movie aptly titled Karthik dial seydha yeN.

However, over the weekend, the multi-talented actor, contacted Gautham Menon, after being moved by the dialogue in the short movie, and told the director that this story should be evolved into a feature film. Whilst the two clashed with each other over differences during the filming of acham yenbadhu maDamaiyaDaa, Silambarasan was ready to put differences aside and work on a sequel to VTV. It is known that the actor was previously reluctant to the sequel, leading to Menon considering Madhavan for the role opposite Trisha but, was not passionate enough about the project to finalise anything. The elated director will look to rope in AR Rahman to complete his award-winning team.

Once lockdown is lifted, Trisha will be returning to the sets of ponniyin selvan to complete shooting for the Mani Ratnam dream project.

And actor Rana Daggubati is officially off the market.

Though the Bahubali star comes across as being shy-natured, he has gained somewhat of a pl***oy rep for himself in the Indian cinema industry.

Rana made his Bollywood debut with the 2011 movie Dum Maaro Dum, following which, he was seen out in public quite a bit with co-star Bipasha Basu, who would only confess to just being friends. However, at an event not too long ago, the two came face-to-face at one point, froze, and refused to acknowledge each other, much to the surprise of many guests seeing that they used to get along like a house on fire. Bipasha tied the knot in 2016.

In 2016, he and Shriya Saran were seen in too many events together to just be coincidental. However, the ATM, Kandasamy and Sivaji actress maintains that they were present at those events due to a common interests.

Rana spoke openly, much to audience's surprise, about his relationship with Trisha Krishnan on 'Koffee with Karan' sharing that he and the '96 and Petta actress were friends for over a decade and dated for a bit, but, that never took off. He seemed quite distraught about the topic... Who wouldn't be?

Late last year, Rana was once again seen out-and-about with yet another beauty of Indian Cinema, Rakul Preet Singh. The two met on the set of Telugu movie, NTR Kathanayakudu. Rakul was quick to speak-out against the rumors saying that Rana was in a relationship then and they merely became good friends. Rana and Rakul were two among an ensemble of cameo appearances by South Indian stars, which included, Shriya Saran, who, by then, had already married.

But, the past is now behind him with Rana taking to his socials to officially introduce the love of his life, Miheeka Bajaj. By the pics shared, it seems that two have been spending India's lockdown together. Rana posted a pic of him and the beautiful Hyderad Interior Decorator and Events Company Owner on his Twitter feed, simply captioning it... "and, she said yes".

The update received numerous well-wishes from many Bollywood, Tollywood and Kollywood stars including Bipasha who advised him to get married soon.

Miheeka is no stranger to the movie world. Being an ace designer, she's often seen partying with many Bollywood actresses and shares close ties with the Kapoor family, so much so, that she often posts pics of her and Sonam Kapoor and the rest of her family. In fact, one of the first stars to wish Rana was Sonam's father, and legendary actor, Anil Kapoor, calling Rana his 'son from Hyderabad', in his response.

Rana's Tamil movie, kaaDan (Forester) was set to release on April 2nd, but, given the pandemic we currently face, the movie will only be released once it's safe for cinema houses to reopen. The movie was simultaneously made in Hindi as Haathi Mere Saathi (Elephants are my Friends) and in Telugu as Aranya (Jungle Man).

Rana also has his forthcoming shoot for maDay thiRandhu/1945 in the bag.
