Our lady of sorrows, pray for us.

This is a water color painting I did two years back, during a time when I learned about “sweet suffering”.

She taught me how God can still be glorified in immense suffering and sorrow, and how I should/can draw deeper into contemplation and conversation with Him.

Suffering in silence but not in isolation.

Suffering not as a victim but as a victor.

Suffering not with pride but with humility.

Suffering united with the three hearts.

Suffering in communion.

Suffering with joy and laughter.

Suffering with zeal.

Suffering not with insecurity but with trust.

Suffering is an opportunity to go deeper.

How little is my suffering compared to the one who died for me on the cross?

I am learning to embrace the discomfort of my own hearts sorrow and suffering, in the hopes that I can help build up the Kingdom of Heaven.

Happy birthday to one of my best roomies in the world! He’s a beast on the court and his offense is insane, but what’s more insane is the way he stole my heart 😜. HAHAHAHAHA!! On the real though, he’s literally such a ✨ G O A T ✨ and a man after Gods heart. I’ve never met someone who can love as well as you do, and be as intentional as you are towards those you care about. I am truly blessed to have you in my life! Wish I could’ve spent the day with you 🥲. If you were a basketball, I’d never shoot, because I would always miss you. Love you dawg! 💛 .barksdale

Hiked in Mount Tamalpais State Park on Saturday and celebrated the feast of St. Therese of Lisieux at the Carmelite Monastery. Also celebrated my momma’s birthday on Sunday!

All in all a full weekend filled with blessings! 🙏

🛻💨 Consumed some Raising Canes and hung out a bit in B-Town.

❓🎡🎢🎟️ Went to The Mystery Spot and Santa Cruz Boardwalk.

👕 Bought some drippy corduroy crewnecks.

⛪️ Prayed at the Shrine of St. Joseph on the feast of the Sacred Heart.

🧋 To end it all we grabbed some boba on our way out!

💕 Special guest appearance from one of our friends who’s doing missionary work here all the way from Alabama.

Last Sunday’s Shenanigans 🛒

Movie Plot: 🎥
Family visits their daughter for her birthday and awkward cousin in SoCal.

They enter an asian grocery market.

Little do they know that soon they’ll be fighting for survival…

Venturing into the market they faced Digital Monsters, Pointed Lips, Guys With Orange Balls, and Riz.

Until finally they’ve come upon the Deli.

After a long battle against Deli’s Queen Tita’s BBQ Stick, Lechon Kawali, Pompano, and Turon.

The victory was achieved and they won absolutely…

Nothing but heart burn.

Side Quest: 🗝️
Prior to Seafood City…

Tried out Okayama Kobo Bakery!

The absolute favorite’s were the Potato Croquette Coppe, Spicy Curry Pan, and the Salt & Butter Roll.

All in all a 100% must try! 🙌

I did Lectio Drawing on Deuteronomy 30:15-20 and these are the few sentences that stuck out to me inspiring the image you see before you.

“Today I have set before you
life and prosperity, death and doom.
If you obey the commandments of the LORD, your God…

…however, you turn away your hearts and will not listen,
but are led astray and adore and serve other gods,
I tell you now that you will certainly perish…

…I have set before you life and death,
the blessing and the curse.
Choose life, then,
that you and your descendants may live, by loving the LORD, your God”

The provoking question of how will I spend my lent and continue after continues to poke at my heart and soul.

I will not let this season of lent just be another temporary fast.

But a time to truly bring myself into a deeper intimacy with God.

Which will carry on through the rest of my time here on this planet.

Want to experience God in unfamiliar places?
⠀
Well that’s too bad because wherever He is, so is your home!
⠀
Wait… Did I say home? Cause that’s crazy!
⠀
But foreals… Is the Lord calling you or is there a burning desire within to go out and serve.
⠀
Don’t ignore that aching in your heart or tug in your chest.
⠀
The Lord is calling you somewhere so He can tell you “My Child Welcome Home!”
⠀
My past Summer Mission experience…
⠀
Was honestly one of the most beautiful experiences I have received.
⠀
I say beautiful because despite my own failures, short comings, and challenges.
⠀
The Lord has really revealed a lot about myself to me, as well as how he loved me through intentional relationships with my other fellow missionaries.
⠀
Where there is TRUTH there is BEAUTY, and where there is BEAUTY there is GOODNESS!
⠀
So why are you waiting to receive the goodness The Lord has for you?
⠀
Whatever The Lord blesses you with He will do so abundantly.

REFLECTION:
The full impact of the Second Vatican Council continues to unfold, not the least of which is the restoration of the qualities of the apostolic community—a spirit of collaboration among the Apostles and among the faithful. Collaboration rather than competition is the hallmark of Christian community.
Prayer:
St. Joseph, help us to be partners in the service of the Gospel.

Each of us have a guardian angel and I often forget to call upon mine. Not only are they our protectors but they are also our companions. So let’s call upon our guardian angels to walk with us; through our day; while we eat; when we pray; go to work; and when we lay to rest. ꒰ა ♡ ໒꒱
