The historic Union Castle Building in Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront – built in 1919 – has witnessed more than a century of maritime history. Its transformation into a bustling commercial and social hub by KMH Architects shows how thoughtful architectural intervention can breathe new life into heritage structures while respecting their historical significance.

When Flo Studio – a collaboration between Hubo Studio and Urban Flux Studios – was tasked with redesigning The Scoin Shop in Brooklyn Mall, Pretoria, they set out to create a space that transcends traditional retail. The resultant series of elegantly crafted spaces creates a spatial experience that feels luxurious and timeless, honouring the region’s rich gold-mining history.
