GUN-WIELDING TSOTSI CAUGHT BY POLICE IN SPOOK-TOWN BEKKERSDAL

In the early hours of Tuesday - the 5th of July 2022 - a 27-year-old man from Bekkersdal was apprehended by Bekkersdal Police for possession of a firearm, after he failed to produce a licence for the said weapon.

According to the Police; Sergeant Lucky Baloyi and Constable George Mathebula were on their routine patroll duties at approximately 04:00 in the morning, when suddenly a man started fleeing upon seeing the Police vehicle.

The man attempted to flee, the members however gave chase and managed to catch him.

"He dropped a knife on the ground and when searched, the members found a 9mm pistol with no magazine, he could not produce a license to possess a firearm." Lefakane added.

The man was placed under arrest for possession of an unlicensed firearm and was expected to appear in the Westonaria Magistrate Court.

In a statement recently the Bekkersdal SAPS said the area was affected by violent crimes where fi****ms are used, either to rob, r**e or hijack unsuspecting victims at gunpoint, while in some other incidents - result in murder.

It was noted that removing even a single or two fi****ms at a go, was perceived as a breakthrough.

The Station Commander Colonel Phumelele Matamela thanked the members for being vigilant and for removing a firearm from the wrong hands.

Registration for the 2022 Senior Certificate examinations is now open!

Adults that qualify to write the 2022 Senior Certificate (SC) examination must register now for the examination to be written in May/June 2022.

Registration opened on 01 October 2021 and will close on 31 January 2022.

Interested and qualifying persons may register manually at any provincial education office (which includes the provincial head office, the district office or a circuit office) or online on www.eservices.gov.za.
