FNB Stadium managing director Bertie Grobbelaar revealed that preparing the pitch for Kaizer Chiefs' Nedbank Cup fixture against Free Agents was a challenge after hosting a concert on Sunday.

The stadium staff worked hard to recover the pitch, removing the pitch cover throughout the night.

FNB Stadium hosted Green Day, The Offspring & Fokofpolisiekar concert on Sunday. Grobbelaar admitted it was a challenge to get the pitch ready for Chiefs' Sunday Nedbank Cup last 32 fixture against lower division side Free Agents.

β€œThat's a challenge. We're working hard to recover the pitch after the concert. We didn't sleep throughout the night, removing the pitch cover. The proof will be on the pudding on Sunday,'' Bertie Grobbelaar said.

The PSL has suspended all Royal AM fixtures (Betway Premiership and Nedbank Cup) until further notice.

1. On 9 January 2025, Royal AM FC informed the League that it could not meet its commitments in respect of its match against Chippa United FC on 11 January 2025 due to difficulties arising from the appointment of a Curator.

2. The Executive Committee (ExCo) has since convened three separate meetings seeking the assurance that the club, under curatorship, will be able to meet its fixture commitments in
a compliant fashion.

3. On 17 January 2025, ExCo were informed that a joint letter of comfort (from club management and the Curator) would be provided confirming that the issues that led to the club being unable to meet its commitments had been resolved.

4. No such letter of comfort has been forthcoming and ExCo has been left with no alternative but to cancel PSL Fixture 106 - Royal AM vs Orlando Pirates Harry Gwala Stadium at 19h30 – and to suspend all other Royal AM fixtures (Betway Premiership and Nedbank Cup) until further notice.

5. The Executive Committee will meet again on Friday 24 January 2025 at 11h00 to afford Royal AM (under curatorship) to make representations regarding this matter.

Bloemfontein Celtic FC has withdrawn from the 2024/25 ABC Motsepe League, signaling their intention to focus on securing a return to the PSL. The team has been participating in the ABC Motsepe League since 2021 after selling their top-flight status to Royal AM.

"We regret to inform you that Bloemfontein Celtic Football Club has taken the decision to withdraw from participating in the ABC Motsepe League 2024/25 season with immediate effect." Club chairman Max Tshabalala confirmed the withdrawal to the media.

"In the best interest of the Free State province and football lovers in general, the club has taken the decision to dispose its name and trademarks to a suitable consortium which is best positioned to obtain a professional status that will see Bloemfontein Celtic Football Club resurfacing in the Premier Soccer League again."
