🚨 TRAGEDY IN EASTERN CAPE 🚨

An 8-year-old boy from Nothintwa, Ngcwanguba (Mqanduli) has been charged with murder after allegedly shooting and killing his 7-year-old cousin using his father’s firearm.

Police say the child accessed the gun in his father’s bedroom and pointed it at his cousin — a shot went off, killing him instantly.

👮 A separate case of negligence and failure to safeguard a firearm has been opened against the boy’s 48-year-old father, who has already appeared before the Mqanduli Magistrate’s Court. He was released on warning.

The 8-year-old has since been referred to social workers.

⚖️ Phala Phala Trial Update ⚖️

The Modimolle Regional Court in Limpopo has reserved judgment in the Phala Phala farm theft case involving the stolen $580,000 from President Cyril Ramaphosa’s property.

👉 The state asked for a trial within a trial after its fourth witness shocked the court by saying he never made the statement attributed to him. He claimed police gave him the statement and ordered him to sign it.

This witness was testifying against the three accused:

Immanuela David
Floriana Joseph
Ndilinasho Joseph

All allegedly broke into Phala Phala farm in February 2020.

The witness has been provisionally excused, while the sixth state witness, the farm’s general manager, is currently testifying.

He told the court that when he entered the house, “pillows and staff were not in place, cushions were on the floor — clear signs someone had been inside.” Yet, he noted the big screen TV was still there, raising further questions.

🚨 Combs Faces Sentencing 🚨

Sean “Diddy” Combs blamed his past behavior on drugs, excess, and selfishness, saying his year in Brooklyn’s infamous jail left him “reborn.”

👉 “Prison will change you or kill you — I chose to live,” he wrote.

He spoke of his rags-to-riches journey in the entertainment industry, the childhood trauma of losing his father to murder, and the harsh prison conditions that forced him to confront himself. He claims he’s found sobriety, spiritual renewal, and built positive bonds with fellow inmates.

⚖️ His defense team argues he should be released before the end of 2025.
⚖️ Prosecutors say he remains “unrepentant,” a danger to the public, and should serve at least 10 more years. Victims have also sent letters urging the judge not to release him.

On Friday, lawyers and at least one witness for the prosecution will address the court before sentencing is decided.

🚨 HISTORIC RULING ON PARENTAL LEAVE! 🚨

Until now in South Africa, maternity and paternity leave were not equal:
👩 Mothers got 4 months off (maternity leave)
👨 Fathers only got 10 days (paternity leave)

The Constitutional Court has declared this system unfair and unconstitutional. 🙌

From today, BOTH parents are entitled to equal parental leave — a total of 4 months + 10 days, which they can share however they choose.

👉 This means dads are no longer limited to just 10 days, and moms don’t automatically have to take all the time. Families can now decide what works best for them.

A massive step forward for gender equality and family rights in South Africa! 👨‍👩‍👧

Starlink in Orania? ICASA Launches Investigation 🚨

The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) is investigating reports that Elon Musk’s Starlink internet kits have been delivered to Orania, the whites-only enclave in the Northern Cape. 🛰️

This has raised eyebrows as the rest of South Africa remains largely offline while Orania might be secretly enjoying an unlicensed satellite service.

ICASA confirmed to Freedom Park Times that inspection teams have been dispatched after Starlink dishes were reportedly spotted in the area.

⚠️ Repeated Warnings Ignored
Despite multiple warnings, Starlink continues without a South African licence. In May, ICASA issued Government Gazette Notice No. 49777, making it clear that all electronic communications providers must comply with local laws.

The regulator also reached out to Starlink’s parent company, SpaceX, for clarification—months later, they’re still waiting for a response.

ICASA media liaison Milly Matlou said:
"If Starlink is found to be in breach of South African regulations, enforcement action will follow. This could include lodging a complaint with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU)."
