Just a South African girl in a Canadian suit with her Canadian friends.

Last week I had the pleasure of meeting Daniel and Jason, who were in South Africa as part of the Canadian delegation attending the at the Sandton Convention Centre.

Jason and Daniel also visited me at the and joined the event hosted by UNISA in partnership with Amazon. It was an inspiring time filled with learning, collaboration, and meaningful connections.

I look forward to building on moments like these and hopefully visiting them in Canada someday.

The Afriquan Film Exclusives event was nothing short of exceptional. It was timely, vibrant, and a true celebration of African cinema. Hosted at Artistry JHB, the afternoon brought together filmmakers, storytellers, and film lovers in an immersive experience that felt both exclusive and welcoming. The energy was contagious, with stylish guests and an atmosphere that encouraged open conversation and shared excitement for the growth of local film.

The official previews — Jozi Love Bites, Destroying Desmond, and Hunting Jessica Brok — gave us a glimpse into the diverse storytelling and creative brilliance that African cinema continues to produce. Each film brought its own flair, from heartfelt romance to thought-provoking narratives, leaving the audience deeply engaged and eager for their releases. The interactive Q&A sessions with cast and filmmakers were a highlight, creating a space to connect with the vision behind the stories while learning more about the creative process.

Beyond the films, the event created an experience. From fun games and icebreakers to fascinating behind-the-scenes insights, every detail made the afternoon memorable. Food and refreshments added a warm touch, ensuring that everyone felt comfortable and connected.

A day well spent at Diepsloot Secondary High No. 3! We had the incredible opportunity to volunteer with the , guiding matric students through career choices and equipping them with valuable tools to navigate their futures.

The day was filled with inspiration, meaningful conversations, and practical advice to help students make informed decisions about their career paths. Seeing their enthusiasm and curiosity was truly rewarding, and it was heartwarming to witness how eager they were to learn about different industries, opportunities, and personal growth strategies.

Beyond career guidance, the experience was about empowerment, helping students realize their potential, explore possibilities, and build confidence in their choices.

Giving back to the youth in this way is always fulfilling, and we left feeling just as inspired as the students. Looking forward to more opportunities to make a difference!
