And today, we unveil yet another senior judge of The CFO Case Study Competition. Meet Brett Tromp CA(SA). He has been the Chief Financial Officer of Discovery Health – South Africa’s largest Health Insurer since 2007 and doubles as the CEO of Discovery Health Care Services, another subsidiary within the Discovery Group, a JSE-listed multinational financial services company –with operations in South Africa, UK, China and USA.

He was nominated as South Africa’s Young (under 40) CFO of the Year 2015 and also scooped the award for the best High performing Finance team. Brett’s experience runs over 15 years – in mainstream financial management and other management functions, with significant international insurance exposure, obtained during his travels into Africa, USA, UK and Europe. He regularly deals with Governments in Africa and is spearheading change in corporate reporting to include Health metrics in company reports -both in South Africa and the SADC region.

And today, we unveil another member of our international panel of judges. Meet Nyasha Madavo CA (SA). She has since 2015 been the CFO of Black Umbrella, an enterprise development organization, partnering with the private sector, government and civil society to address the low levels of entrepreneurship on the African continent. As CFO, she is responsible for the overall direction and leadership of finance, enterprise risk management, IT as well as monitoring and evaluation. She was featured and graced the cover page and main story of the 2018 2nd quarter edition of CFO South Africa, the leading magazine for CFOs and finance professionals in South Africa.

Prior to her current role, Nyasha was CFO of Baraka Engineering, where she led the overall finance function. She started her career in 2008 at Deloitte where she served her articles in the Entrepreneurial Services Division, after which she went on international secondment to the Deloitte office in Toronto, Canada. Upon her return, she joined Deloitte Risk Advisory as a Manager where she gained enterprise risk management experience while serving different clients in the private and public sector, including Multi Choice, Bank of China, Eskom Holdings, Litha Health Care Group and the Mercantile Bank.

And today, we unveil a very specialist judge with vast experience in the specific industry and case company of The CFO Case Study Competition 2018 -AB InBev. He is providing technical industry insight to the international panel of judges. Meet Desilan Pillay, BSc (Mechanical Engineering), Management Consultant & Entrepreneur. He is a former Logistics Director –Unilever Africa, where his multi-billion rand portfolio spanned across Unilever’s businesses in Africa.

Prior to Unilever, Desilan completed 9 progressively challenging years at SABMiller -now ABInBev, culminating into his appointment as Director: Logistics Procurement – Africa; a position created after the acquisition of SABMiller by AB InBev, to provide expertise and supply chain optimisation across the group’s activities on the African continent.

His previous positions include: Head: Supply Chain & Logistics Procurement; Regional Category Manager: Supply Chain & Logistics; Regional Operations Services Manager; Depot Manager; Operations Development Manager; Executive Assistant; Production Unit Manager; Site Services Manager; and Plant Engineer.

And today, we unveil yet another international panel judge of The CFO Case Study Competition 2018. Meet the young Waldi Joubert, CA(SA). He is the
Group Financial Director of Calgro M3 Holdings Ltd, a JSE-listed group with Integrated Residential Housing Developments, Memorial Parks and Real Estate Investments at its core. He was appointed in June 2015, at the age of 29, after demonstrating his ability to provide leadership and strategic direction within this rapidly growing environment. He leads the group finance function, overseeing the annual report preparation of 36 group companies, technical accounting and tax structures, project feasibility structuring, human resources, information technology, and group treasury; whilst serving on various internal committees (investment; social and ethics; and investor relations committees).

Prior to taking up his current role, Waldi served as Group Financial Manager for 3.5 years, effectively positioning him as a long-serving member of the team that has been instrumental in transforming Calgro M3 into the biggest integrated residential developer in South Africa. Prior to this, he completed his articles with PricewaterhouseCoopers Inc in 2011 where he gained a wide range of knowledge across several different industries, mining equipment manufacturing, plastic products manufacturing, property development and insurance.
