Heritage Day means firing up the braai, but nobody said you can’t play with what goes alongside it.

This year, we’re giving three familiar favourites a little twist: **sticky Seville orange braai chicken, smoky cranberry chakalaka and charred mielies with a lemon and elderflower dressing**.

Nothing overly complicated. Nothing that requires spending the whole morning in the kitchen. Just easy recipes that bring something different to the table while keeping everything we love about cooking around the fire.

And because the drinks deserve some attention too, each recipe comes with its own easy alcohol-free mocktail pairing.

Light the fire, make room around the table and try something new this Heritage Day with PURA beverages 🩵.

The best summer outfits are often the ones you don’t have to think too hard about.

Matching sets have quietly become one of the most useful additions to the warm-weather wardrobe. Wear the pieces together and you’re dressed. Split them up and suddenly you have twice as many options.

For South African brand N3YH, that easy middle ground between staying home and heading out is exactly where its leisurewear collection fits.

Think women’s ribbed sets in Stone, Black, Olive and Bubblegum Pink, relaxed menswear in easy neutrals and lightweight bamboo fabrics designed for long summer days.

Coffee at home, breakfast out, an afternoon braai or a weekend away. The summer set might just be the answer to all of them.

The countdown to UEFA EURO 2028 may still have a way to go, but one familiar name has already secured its place on the sidelines. ⚽

Hisense has extended its long-running partnership with UEFA, becoming an **Official Partner of UEFA EURO 2028** and marking the fourth consecutive European Championship supported by the global electronics brand.

The relationship began at UEFA EURO 2016 and has since grown beyond traditional sponsorship, with Hisense becoming UEFA’s dedicated display technology partner.

It’s another chapter in a football journey that has also included the FIFA World Cups in 2018, 2022 and 2026.

Slops are back. Shoes are being left at the door. And suddenly, the feet we ignored all winter have a lot more work to do.

Summer means barefoot afternoons, pool days, sandals and plenty more time outdoors, but it can also bring cracked heels, painful corns, blisters, hot paving and a few unwelcome surprises around communal pools.

The good news? Looking after your feet doesn’t need to become another complicated summer routine.

From why you shouldn’t cut a corn yourself to the reason slops belong in your pool bag, we unpack four things worth checking before barefoot season properly gets underway.

What if the brandy you drink in 2046 is already being made today?

While most industries are obsessed with speed, KWV Brandy Master **Pieter de Bod** works on a timeline measured in decades. Every barrel laid down today involves decisions about a consumer who may only open that bottle 10, 15 or even 20 years from now.

Technology may have transformed how quickly businesses operate, but there are some things it simply cannot accelerate.

“You cannot use technology to speed up the relationship between raw spirit, French oak and oxygen,” says de Bod.

From the science and sensory skill behind blending to KWV’s “liquid library” of ageing brandies, we step inside a profession where patience isn’t simply a virtue. It’s part of the job.

Sometimes the best part of the race happens after the finish line.

More than 400 young riders from at least eight schools recently took to the track at the Southern Suburbs School Mountain Bike League at SACS, cheered on by over 1,000 family members and supporters.

There were tired legs, muddy bikes and plenty of competitive spirit. But there were also medals, proud parents and that unmistakable look on a child’s face when they realise they’ve just done something difficult.

PURA beverages 🩵 was there for those moments, supporting an event that also helps raise funds to maintain and expand the MTB track for future young riders.

Because school sport isn’t only about who finishes first. It’s about getting outside, giving something a go and having your people waiting for you at the end.

What happens when a restaurant brand realises its next customer might not be sitting in a restaurant?

Col'Cacchio has spent more than three decades building its name around restaurant tables, but its evolution is increasingly taking the brand beyond them.

What began as a retail experiment during COVID has developed into a broader multi-channel business, with Col’Cacchio products now reaching consumers through major retailers including Checkers and SPAR.

It’s a shift that says something bigger about the restaurant industry too: growth no longer has to mean opening another restaurant.

We look at how Col’Cacchio is taking a familiar South African restaurant brand into retail and building new ways to meet customers wherever they choose to eat.

Comfort is officially leaving the bedroom.

South African brand N3YH is expanding beyond the sleepwear it’s known for with the launch of its first leisurewear collection, designed for the increasingly blurred line between staying in and heading out.

The new collection introduces women’s ribbed long-sleeve tops and lounge pants, alongside another first for N3YH: a dedicated men’s range.

Made with bamboo fabric and designed around easy, everyday dressing, the collection taps into a simple idea: the clothes we reach for at home should work just as well beyond it.

Discover N3YH’s move from sleepwear into leisurewear on SA Life Mag.

Not all honey is meant to look or taste the same.

The honey in your jar is shaped by far more than bees. Geography, rainfall, flowering seasons and the plants growing around a hive can all influence its flavour, colour and texture.

In South Africa, that can mean honey carrying the character of everything from fynbos and buchu to wild rosemary and proteas.

And that jar that starts to crystallise? It might not be a bad thing at all.

We take a closer look at what real, raw honey actually is, why every harvest can be different and how the landscape ultimately finds its way into the jar Hive & Earth Sustainable Honey Company.
