Disco Soupe is also known as Schnippeldisko, is a ‘protest soup’ against food. In France the movement was created in Paris in 2012 and works to raise public awareness of the problem of food waste.
Disco Soups are collective and open cooking sessions of scraped or unsold fruit and vegetables in a musical and festive atmosphere. The meals thus made are then redistributed to all participants for free. The Disco Soups allow the education to a healthy and tasty cooking, the pleasure of cooking together, zones of conviviality in the public space, and, the sensitization of the most large number to food waste. Today, one third of the food produced for our consumption is wasted. Saving 25% of this, would be enough to feed 870 million hungry people in the world. We all care about this big problem and we want to change this.
